Worth The Trip!
This is also a nostalgia review, as 'The Long Journey Home' reminded me immediately of the very ancient 'Lunar Lander', I played so often in the arcades almost half a century ago. Lol. The 'Lander' portions of the game reminds me very much of this; is also difficult, like that older game was. Usually I tend toward casual games, but even that old one kept me trying at it; so does this. I had even hoped over the years for some more up to date game like it, and this IS It! One word for anyone unfamiliar, or even used to similar older games: the 'inertial' controls in space behave similar to those on the planets in the lander; this takes some training and getting used to. As others have said, do not expect to just jump in without knowing this. This style of control came back to me faster than expected but as I was beginning to get a bit frustrated; give the game and yourself a chance, also as have Others have said. The rest of the aspects to do with conserving fuel are difficult but familiar to me; and combat and some other additions I still have yet to face, so wish me luck! Lol. Upgrades and resource management I've not yet tried; this game seems to be a cool hybrid of 'Lunar', 'Starflight', and other earlier games I enjoyed, and I look forward to learning: Five Stars but for the learning curve, but five stars it is! Lol. Finally, it runs very well graphically and otherwise on my i5_3470, 16gb, on a 4gb nv1050 display, on Win 10, and wants to run at the games 'epic' settings: unusual for most 'newer' games here. THANKS GOG, for Offering this here :-)
