Description
There are a million worlds in the galaxy. Only one of them is Home.

It was supposed to be a short test run - a quick flight to Alpha Centauri and back. But when mankind’s first experimental jump drive goes wrong, a misfit crew finds itself trapped on the wrong side of the universe - alone, injured, falling apart. The only way back… is through.

Explore an endlessly shifting universe. Form alliances with strange aliens, from the noble Wolphax Knights to cruel-minded Ilitza slaver empire. Harness your crew’s skills in everything from research to archeology to diplomacy. Learn the laws of an often hostile universe, and make tough decisions that may change it forever. Do whatever it takes to get back to Earth.

The Long Journey Home combines the endless freedom of space with a new open questing system that always leaves you in command. Deliver the stranded Glukkt to his homeworld as he asks, or to your new slaver friends? Attempt to make allies with everyone, or pin your hopes on the tougher races, and hope they never turn on you? Jump by jump, make hard decisions and live with the consequences, in a universe that is never the same twice.

One mission. Endless adventures.

Where will your Journey take you?
  • Endless Space - Explore a living, procedurally generated universe inspired by both classic and modern Science Fiction. Meet different aliens. Find different stories. Take different risks. Learn the secrets of the universe and with them, new possibilities.
  • Hidden stories - Raid alien tombs full of traps and treasure. Compete in the galaxy’s greatest combat tournament. Find and research strange artifacts, and use your crew’s skills to find out whether that old skull is just a piece of bone, or the Holy Grail of an aggressive new species.
  • A crew worth leading - Choose four out of ten experts, all with personality as well as specialties. Far from just stats, you’ll come to know them as they share their feelings, their fears, their excitement and their concerns on the trip and your decisions. Learn how best to use their skills to help the others… and who might be willing to sacrifice themselves to get the others back Home.

Unplayable tutorial = unplayable game

I really like the idea of the game but the controls are horrible. I started tutorial, because I have heard it is difficult to control. But it is also difficult to understand. The tutorial does not explain anything at all. It just says land on the planet. After few attempts to do so (I pressed every key on the keyboard) I noticed that I am supposed to land on different planet than the one where I started. By very weird control I managed to get into the orbit of the another planet, while crashing into it unintentionally. Finally button that allows me to Land appeared. The same repeats during the landing phase. Tutorial tip: Mine some metal. That is it. I spent 30 minutes splashing the module in the water or trying to approach a zone, but I never figured out how to actually mine. Apparently you have to be within three pixels in the mining zone, so it is possible that I never acheived that. Get Starcom: Nexus instead. The premise is similiar, but everything controls fine.

Terrible controls

In the future there is no effective fly by wire or autopilot. The lander mechanics are simply bad, the solar system navigation is simply horrific. Although the game looks really interesting and I like the premise of it, the controls are so bad as to make the game all but unplayable and simply un-enjoyable.

Grindy and riddled with flaws

The game grabs your interest at the start, and I really wanted to like it. But then you play a handful of hours and realize how many problems it has. The boring grind for rapidly depleting resources for one, the bad design and bugs for others. I save a Wolphax from a derelict ship. I warp to a Wolphax system to let him off at a spaceport. Before I can make it there a Wolphax destroyer accosts me and demands to scan my cargo bay. Apparently the side quest NPC counts as a slave or prisoner, I am immediately accused of such and attacked. I complete a side quest chain and nothing happens. I look up the quest in the wiki and the NPC who is supposed to show up did not. etc etc. The game starts off promising, then gets steadily worse the more you play.

This gameplay is soo frustrating!!

I like the concept, I like SF, everything was so perfect that I didn't hear the reviews. Well, it is true : This game could have been good if it wasn t THAT frustrating. A BAD controllers and a BAD interface. I am so angry right now, cause I can imagine the game it could have been with good controls and interfaces.

Good game without a good story

The title says it all. Music is nice, once you get used to the controls, gameplay is manageable. I didn't encounter any bugs. However, I didn't encounter any relevant story
