The complete collection of The Journey Down provides a fun point and click adventure series that manages to have challenging but not frustrating puzzles. Bwana is a character that could become a point & click favourite, possibly on par with Manny from Grim Fandango. While the plot of The Journey Down does hit rough spots at times, especially in the third act, the series is easily recommended to those looking for a point & click adventure game to spend time on, as well as those who like puzzle games in general.

8.5/10

The Journey Down's story is captivating, confounding, and lovable all at once, with its roots in real-life culture making it all the more unique. Chapter 3 especially feels engaging and exciting, though the tone of the game never strays from its intention. There are plot details that could do with some patching up, but ultimately it was a pleasure to play, and I would definitely recommend it for somebody looking for a point-and-click puzzle game that carries with it a breath of fresh air.

8.5/10

The Journey Down is an enjoyable adventure title that doesn't break new ground, but it doesn't need to. It's well written, has delightful art and audio, and is everything that an adventure game needs to be. The somewhat weaker first chapter drags down the experience a little, but once you get past that, The Journey Down fires on all cylinders until the end. If you grew up on LucasArts adventure titles, The Journey Down is the game for you.

Become one of the classics

I remember playing Journey Down YEARS ago when it's still a free demo and the character is heavily pixelated. I was impressed and loving it but sadly I forget to check if the game is out and I only find out that it got a complete three chapters of story during a sale event. So I grabbed the game and played it and I must say that this is a recommended adventure game for both P&C adventure game buffs and people who want to try P&C adventure game for the first time. Pros: No pixel hunting Maybe one of the sin of adventure game that been done in many P&C adventure games are putting an item with only one or two pixels of clickable area, thus giving the game a bad artificial difficulty. But no pixel hunting here no sirree! Amazing art choice Using African masks for the characters and Colorful backdrop in chapter 3 made the game shine. It felt like classic Broken Sword that doesn't shame itself from using colorful backdrops Music I just love the music. The change from mostly jazzy tunes in chapter 1 and 2 to a more rock and roll in chapter 3 need some time to get used to but it fit the plot of chapter 3. Cons: The recording quality for voice acting In chapter 1 and 2 the recording quality can be pretty bad. Some characters are recorded louder while other characters I can't really get what they say. I guess they record them separately without setting some recording standard and probably different recording equipment. Chapter 3 isn't that bad, I guess they finally found their groove in that chapter. Thank God for default text. I can't buy the music from GOG Look guys, I understand you guys want me to buy your music from bandcamp. But isn't it far more convenience to sell it here too so I don't have to make a new account? In Summary Go get the game, it's worth your time!

On of the best....

One of the best adventures of the millenium so far. I just replayed it and it has been one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences of my whole life (Except maybe for some weird logical puzzles that I found rather unintuitive but didn`t matter much in the context of an otherwise pretty much flawless game)

Quirky easy-going adventure

I really enjoyed these three fun and easy chapters. The characters were quirky and fun and the music was amazing! Enjoyed the puzzles through St Armando and the Underland, the puzzles were fairly easy however some of the things you have to do are quite wrong and you wouldn't do them in real life but that makes the game interesting and hilarious. Recommend this game to people who like a fun story, great music, fun puzzles and an overall fun experience. Thanks for this game Skygoblin. The ten years they put into it really makes the game something else! [Faye]
