This game feels like the Dev's just threw shit together in hopes to lure in the sheeple that they obviously did. Not that great. the animations are amateur as all hell, and some of the recycled assets and content is laughable to say the least. It is enjoyable for a couple hours though. thats it.
The plot: the fabula is like all in this sequel based on the original, there is an evil almighty organisation that controlled by immensly dumb people, which have a problem with their new moronic evil plan to use STEM on all people wirelessly))), meanwhile some of their lab rats with twisted imagination for unknown reasons have great powers in new version of matrix, it doesn't matter that the core brain now is innocent and childish and basically can create new version of OZ, changing habitants into bunnies and unicorns ,cause she thinks it's just a dream . Let's talk about that propaganda. Our main hero now become a dumb crying girl ,that needs to be saved and taken care by multitude of bad written brave female red shirts of different nationalities, cause me too and political correctness comes first, now Sebastian is always motivated by them , cause if not , he drowns himself in self pity and can't do nothing about it. What an example for every boy to admire and follow his steps.
The first Evil Within is one of the worst survival horror games of all time. The only reason I can say I am glad it exists is because we don't really get survival horror games anymore.
I beat this game on steam when it came out. I think it's better in the mechanics department than the first game. The open world gives you a feeling of space in a weird way that works for this game. Like the first game, though, this game is incredibly not scary. It's so not scary that it's scary how not scary these games are. It's almost like they don't really want them to be so babies who don't play scary games because they're too scary will play them.
The first game had fights straight out of Naked Gun where you just run around a pole 50 times and shoot a thing with your gun until it dies. it's the silliest thing ever. This one thankfully doesn't have that problem. Again, mechanically this game is leaps and bounds better than the first- so it feels good to kill the incredibly not scary monsters in it.
The monster designs are decently generic- none of which hold a candle to Silent Hill but really really want to.
The story is slightly better only mainly because it's much less a focal point. This game is open world so you kind of open up missions by finding them with the radio. It's a neat idea, but it means if you think the story is dumb don't worry there's another one over there you might like. This was smart given how much of a rip off the story is. Don't think I'm just saying that- Shinji Mikami was very open that he is ripping off Inception with the first game, and he still is here. I think he does it better this time than he did in the first one.
I don't think Shinji Mikami is a very good video game developer. Resident Evil 4 was bad and The Evil Within was bad. At least with this one it has good mechanics- so it feels good to kill the monsters unlike in those two awful games. So get this one and skip those. Saves you money.
