Pretty interesting.

This game makes the mechanics of the other game more interesting. Also, has new additions. Now the story develops ins a small open world where you have many possibilities. Go to point A to Point B in a non-linear way. Enjoy what the world has to offer such as new weapons, recolection of green goo to upgrade Sebastian abilities and even some side quest which you need to find in your exploration. The story, despite being kinda cliche, is still pretty good and entertaining. If you played the first The Evil Within, you will definitely like this one, and so much more.

A HUGE improvement over TEW 1

I completed the first game before getting into the sequel, and it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Horrible design choices, an uninteresting story with cliché characters and bugs. The atmosphere, however, was pretty good. It had a cheesy B movie vibe. The Evil Within 2 just steers right into that B movie vibe. It doesn't try too hard, there's a couple tongue-in-cheek jokes here and there, and the gameplay itself is lightyears ahead of its predecessors. Almost everything that was poorly implemented and frustrating in the first game was fixed in the second one, and the semi-open world setting works really well too. It feels less linear, and much better built than the first game in every aspect. The plot is still mediocre at best, but even that is better and more engaging than the first games was. If you played the first game and didn't think it was a total waste of your time, you should try this one too. If you haven't played the first one, but you're looking for a fun horror themed TPS, I can still recommend The Evil Within 2. I think it's the best game in this particular genre/sub-genre since The Suffering 2.

Crazy sequel

I am not sure what to think of this series, other than it is certainly one of the MOST VISCERAL AND DISTURBING games I have ever seen in my life. Basically the guy goes on a journey through madness to rescue a loved one, and obviously it aint easy. Nice details even on low end pc; fluid controls, and a stellar auditory experience. Thank you Mr. Miami.

Fantastic game, one of my favorites.

I was happy to find that this version of the game on GOG has no DRM, the pre-order bonus content I thought I'd never get a hold of after becoming a fan of the game too late, and generally runs better than the Steam or Console versions. This game is simply fun too. It has great difficulty modes that change up enemy encounters, interesting monster designs, and a rather well-done story progression. The stealth and combat bits are fun. It's fun to find upgrades and craft for better equipment. My favorite mode is Nightmare mode for its challenge. Different enemy spawns, more urgency in encounters and pushes you to be more careful and tactical while not overwhelming you by over-beefing enemies. This game maintains a good balance for each difficulty so it remains fair while pushing you to approach differently. And if you want a old-fashion experience, Classic mode is a lot of fun with limited saves and no upgrades, as well as altered encounters all the while maintaining a fair balance so the enemies are too tough and you aren't too easy to kill. The major drawback to playing classic mode though is the limited saves, makes you very careful about how to use them. And my favorite part about the GOG version of the game, besides the pre-order bonus pack is that the game performs better on this version than it does on the Steam version because it lacks the DRM. No DRM means no background nonsense to hurt the game's performance. It's always better to play games that provide the best performance when possible, and this is where you ought to go for that.

Bad port

Boy, I thought the first part was a bad port, but this one really beats it. Got a rig with Ryzen 7 3700X, RX 580 8Gb and 32 GB RAM. Well, I'll just say that for me this game really redefines what "unstable framerate" means. Load up, hmm, 60FPS, looks fine, start moving the camera. 17 FPS, niiiceee. Continue spinning the camera after doing 360 spin, FPS is now stable. Walk a couple of meters, get a drop to 20FPS for a moment, start spinning camera, here we go again... I can speculate that the game caches only a few textures, and unloads 'em really quick, so you get into a loop of loading them again from disk. What a waste. Almost got to the end of Chapter 3. Not forcing myself anymore.
