Thx GOG.
Kiss and Hugs and you made my year !
The best decision that Bethesda ever made, was to open the game to the fans for modding.
Skyrim is one of the most moddable games and thus deep, versatile and beautiful games with awesome freedom. Through this it improved over time and still manages to stay relevant. The fans poured in years of improvements, game fixes, extra content and functionality.
Get this base game of Skyrim Special Edition that also includes all the AddOns.
Avoid the unnecessary Creation Club content through the "Anniversary Edition". That just adds the notorious Creation Club in which you can buy mods that are freely available through the community (e.g. Nexus Mods) and includes some previous Creation Club content with it.
You don't need that.
Plus if you already run a modded version of SSE, this AddOn will usually break your Modlist and bork your applied mods.
You can get all the mods and more that you could ever wish fore elsewhere.
Wow, I've waited for years to get this game. Don't spend much on steam or other outlets. But Gog has most of everything I need and one of the best to Support!
And Now - we have Skyrim V. A huge thank you for GOG for getting it here. After playing the game for over 100 hours - it's very addictive and fun. Although I love the Witcher 3 More and play it several times a year - Skyrim gives me something to do until the Witcher 4 comes out.
I'm an old-man gamer. Well over 60. But I had time to play games until I retired two years ago. Now I can play until my hearts content. Skyrim V has something for everyone. Highly Recommend it anyone that loves the Witcher Series!
Thank You!
As much as I like Bethesda's games, they do rely heavily on the modding community to make them better, Skyrim is no exception. Bethesda already made one mistake, they did the Second Edition, this made a lot of mods obsolete, and the modders had already moved on to new games, so they did't update for the new Skyrim. Some were backwards compatible, many weren't. The second issue, GOG just got the game way too late, while SKSE has made a GOG version, some of the SE mods just won't work right with the GOG version of SKSE, such as racemenu, which is an essential mod, it is required for many body and armor mods, without it, those mods won't work and there's no guarantee those modders haven't retired.
In short, GOG just got this game too late. I mean it would be like GOG finally getting Sims 2, there'd be no point since Sims games are all about modding, and most Sims 2 modding sites are gone..
