Skyrim looks better than it is!
Skyrim seems to be a good game. but let me explain, why I don´t think so: Compared to Elder Scrolls 3 & 4 (Morrowind & Oblivion): In Morrowind every little detail was well made. It was not perfect, but you can feel the dedication, they invested into it on your journey during the game. Oblivion had a very nice physics engine and looked better in some way, but lost a lot from the old atmosphere. They have made a bad deal, by changing to less gameplay for better graphics. With Skyrim they continued on their course. It looks much better than anything before and the gameplay at the start of the game seems well thought out. But further on you can taste the weakness of it. They cut the game features from older Elder Scrolls games down. Now, it is an extremely casual game, made up for very simple minds or thinking) For example: The character development is straight-lined, many weapons are gone. You can´t mix your character-class in a playable way (just three directions). They implemated a quest-navigation system (not plausible for the game-logic). The atmosphere is the opposite of overwhelming. If you want to play a roleplay-computer-game jewel, perhaps you should better play Morrowind. Only need to download some graphic mods for better look. If you want to play something, without much thinking or complexity, Skyrim should be right for you. It is the same question like eating fastfood or get a nice healthy & tasty meal. It is up to you^^

Fun.
It's a mediocre game on it's own. Mods make it godly. Hodd Toward is purposefully splitting up the modder and mod user-base because he has a small wiener. I have thousands (Literally) of hours under Skyrim and know it from top to bottom; in game world and mod-wise. Yes, it's worth every dime. Take into account that there's some manchild somewhere that's actively sabotaging you and your mods because they think they'll make more shekels, though before buying.

Still enthralling after a decade
I’m late to the party, but having now played through almost all of Skyrim, I get the hype. It’s an imperfect title… Yet one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I’ve had. Let’s start with its most unfortunate and obvious flaw: the omnipresence of Bethesda-flavored bugs - some minor, others game-breaking, all of them annoying. Despite how many times Skyrim has been re-released, most of these have existed, unfixed, since 2011. At least this version rarely crashes, but installing the unofficial patch is a no-brainer... and even that only solves some of the glitches you’ll be encountering constantly. If you can get past that though, Skyrim is quite fantastic. It is wish fulfillment at its finest, allowing you to incarnate the fantasy hero you’ve always wanted to be. Your character is very customizable, from their facial features to their apparel and skillset, and the feeling of progression is really satisfying. As you level up, you’ll go from a weak nobody to an unbeatable legend. TES V’s world is fascinating to explore. It is full of gorgeous locations, and each place you set foot in has something new for you, whether it is treasures or the beginning of a strange quest. Even the dungeons often include unexpected design elements that help stave off repetitiveness. It’s a densely packed and exciting experience where you never know what’s around the corner. Skyrim has been criticized for being dumbed-down and lackluster, and I can see why: there are simply other RPGs out there with deeper gameplay and better writing. However, few of them nail this sense of absolute freedom, this feeling that you are building your hero’s destiny and shaping the world around them. I think it’s a fantastic adventure, choke-full of content, immersive, better than the sum of its parts... and a great Elder Scrolls game (I prefer Morrowind, but consider it a bit better than Oblivion). I would recommend Skyrim to pretty much anyone, as long as they have dozens of hours to sink into it!

Modding paradise
Finally we have a version that don't break our well deserved mod lists. That is my first thought. But other than that, this is the best game ever. I played it for so many hours i don't want to tell. I thank you all involved in this game and it's community for bringing it to me.
