During the eternal struggle of the Alliance of Free Races against the Army
of Shadows, an aged gremlin archaeologist Mortimer MacGuffin discovers the
secret repository that houses a legendary artifact! Knowing that this
ancient treasure could turn the tide of war, the Army of Shadows sends
their best agents to seize it. At the same time four unlikely heroes from
the Alliance are drawn into the crisis: a cute gnome Wilbur, a stunningly
attractive wood elf princess Ivo, and a brash pirate Nate with his furry
companion, the mysterious Critter.
The Book of Unwritten Tales is a classic point-and-click adventure game
with a cornucopia of humorous references. Whether it gently lampoons a
particularly popular MMO or the stereotypical fantasy conventions, it’s
sure to put a knowing smile on the face of even the most hardened
adventurer! If you're looking for a comedic relief from all the super-serious plots of modern games, this beautifully-presented point-and-click adventure will be perfect for you.
Travel through a beautifully presented world that is a twisted image of almost every popular fantasy land you’ve visited in games, movies, and books.
Help a pack of hapless heroes to solve over 150 mind-boggling puzzles and discover more than 300 items that can be used and combined.
Meet a cast of crazy characters - from two-headed ogres and vegetarian dragons to good-natured zombies.
While the puzzles and countless fetch quests got a little boring, the beautiful graphics, sometimes funny dialog and mostly interesting characters made the entire experience fun. A worthy addition to any adventure games fan' library. Story was just ok.
I never write reviews but this one deserves it.. just finished it and took about 17 hours.. The references in-game were well thought out.. Not ridiculous puzzles like say umm... Monkey Island games.. but also does not hold your hand like Back to the future. IMHO the game was near perfect point and click puzzle.. Do highly recommend but the for me the price seems high on GOG.. I got it in a bundle for pennies.. Whatever way you get you must play through once in your life!
The Game has a really nice old-school touch to it. I didnt expect too much and it not only surprised me but in some parts blew me out of my shoes. Anyone who likes Monkey Island will also like this! Highly recommended!
It was an enjoyable game, and I'd still recommend it. However, it's definitely not the perfect gem of a game that a lot of the praise would tend to indicate.
On the plus side, fun, likeable and enjoyable characters, great artwork, good music. OK plot. 4 stars.
On the bad side, pixel hunting... A LOT of it. Even more than some of the worst offenders from back in the day. Extremely linear. -1 star.
The game is funny so it's definitely engaging. The puzzles are quite straightforward; and the game is generally easy. The scenery is fantastic. The music and sound acting is also pretty good.
