A solid effort
Good: Beautiful environments from start to finish, especially for its budget. Great horror atmosphere, tho some areas could be a little darker- all these matches and lantern fuel, but I didn't really need them. I like the time-jumping elements, and the puzzles- lots of neat places to explore, and gadgets to interact with. The quantum localizer was a cool mechanic. Some very intense chase sequences. Relies a little too heavily on jump scares, but damn if they don't work. Meh: Story tries some interesting things, but ends up being a bit disjointed. Actually, a lot of the game feels that way- a lot of intriguing elements that never really flow together all that well. Bad: WAY too heavy on random-button quick-time events- quit changing what mouse button you want me to press at the last second! Also needs better checkpoint placement- AFTER the cutscene, please, unskippable or otherwise. All in all, not an entirely bad way to spend five hours of Spooktober.
