Reviews/Accolades
“A knockout indie entry in gaming.” - TechRaptor
“Just Purkey Games has made something special… You’re off the edge of the map. Here be dragons. But if you play it right, the scariest thing in this world might just be you.” -Shacknews
“The Axis Unseen is the most Skyrim-like game I’ve played since Skyrim… stripped back and filtered through the likes of Elden Ring and Praey for the Gods.” - The Escapist
Hunt monsters from folklore. Follow their tracks and blood trails. Pay attention to the wind direction so they can't smell you approaching.
The Axis Unseen can be played both as a stealth game or as an intense action game, depending on your personal style and preference.
For people who want a less hardcore experience, the difficulty can be changed at any time and there is even a pacifist mode where you can take pictures of the creatures to unlock things instead. For an extra challenge, there is a permadeath mode.
The Axis Unseen is a game all about immersion and discovery. Almost all of the UI exists on your bow and hands. Creatures will track you with sight, sound and smell and and have specific weaknesses.
You have to check your quiver to see how many arrows you have. Tattoos on your hand light up to show your health and active powers. Your bow shows how much energy you have collected from the creatures you have killed and how much sound you are making.
Can you uncover the mysteries of this world and how to defeat the creatures?
The Axis Unseen features original music by Clifford Meyer, previously of the legendary post-metal bands ISIS and Red Sparowes. It is a unique blend of heavy metal and primitive instruments. The music dynamically adjusts to what is going on in the game. Sometimes it is atmospheric, other times it is intense metal.
Upgrade your senses with the powers of the creatures. See scent particles. Feel the warmth left behind on their tracks. See colors that no human has ever seen.
Your bow and arrow keeps you alive. Upgrade your bow or even find different arrow types such as fire, wind controlling or time distorting arrows. Experiment to see all the different ways the arrows can interact with each other, such as wind arrows making the fire spread faster.
You also have a safe area where all of the monsters, powers, magic, equipment and map sections that you find unlock sculptures and a 3d version of the map to look at to help you navigate the world. You can also use this space to seamlessly fast travel around the world without ever needing to open a menu.
Find out what happened to the hunters and other visitors to this place who came before you and what secrets they uncovered by finding their journals. Where did this world come from? How do you stop the creatures from escaping into your world? As you explore this world you will also make your own journal entries and drawings about the monsters, powers and equipment that you find.
The Axis Unseen is developed by Nate Purkeypile. Nate Purkeypile has been making games for 20 years and worked on titles such as Skyrim, Fallout 3/4/76, Starfield, Metroid Prime 3 and BloodRayne 2. He was the Lead Artist on Fallout 76 and the Co-Lead/Lead Artist on the Fallout 3 DLC, Point Lookout.
Note: If you have an AMD card and are experiencing crashes on startup, reinstall your drivers without the optional Radeon software. This is a general Unreal 5/AMD issue and it can causes crashes. This is outside of my control. RivaTuner can also causes crashes.

This game is perfect for solo ranger style players.
If you want to stalk a vast open landscape and build your skills, but don't want to have to deal with money and guilds and collecting alchemical ingredients, building a house etc.; this game is perfect for you.
It's just you, your bow, the land and a wide variety of creatures to hunt through an interesting variety of environments. A really fun mix of monsters to hunt and the weapon upgrades and such are spaced out in a way that makes them fun to look for.
You'll find the journals of previous occupants of the land, and that's the closest you'll get to another human being.
Also, if you like those huge yard skeleton decorations, you'll love the environment. Best use of skeletons I've seen yet.
Skyrim's stealth archer build made into a monster slaying game. You listen for sound, account for wind direction, and keep count of your arrows (and its types). Fascinating world, but a largely empty one. There are no items aside from journal entries and 'powers' to collect.
While there are plenty of graphical options, I wish there was a way to adjust the bloom. Some parts get too dark; too bright that it can hinder my personal enjoyment. I want to battle the monsters, not my monitor! But that's a small negative for what this game delivers.
If you had a long day at work and need to unwind, consider this one. I found it worth my time. However, if you're looking for an immersive world with collectibles and NPCs to talk to, this won't be for you.
One guy made this! It's a great concept. Everyone who gravitated to Stealth Archer in Skyrim should get this game. It offers rewarding exploration, a huge world, and varying difficulty. I just went through the forest and am still enjoying the game.
The creatures are creepy and some giant skeletons seem to tell a story, I am looking forward to the completed game.
Immersive, bewildering, threatening. Sound, graphics, user interface, all is in check for people that want to explore and get into some trouble because you forgot you are also being hunted.
I actually played the demo on my xbox series x and as soon as I saw it become available on GOG, I grabbed it! It definitely has the Skyrim feel to it and looks really good, difficulty isn't too hard and combat is solid. I love the creature designs and hunting them is a blast. Now if you could release the full version on xbox too, i'll be happy :)
