Henry Stauf's mansion has been abandoned for as long as anyone dare remember. Stauf was a master toy maker, a maker of amazing puzzles and this strange, eerie, mansion was his greatest creation.
It stands empty, rotting ever since children started dying with his toys near them, ever since six guests came and were never seen again.
Now, you are in the house, moving from one room to another, trying to remember and trying to forget. Because Stauf's game isn't over. There were six guests the world knew about - and there was one other.
The mansion of horror comes to life again and only you can end this mad nightmare and learn the secret of the 7th guest.

I forgot how slow the game plays - moving around in a 3D scene was beautiful and novel at the time, but now that we're past the Myst era it's hard to wait through an animation of walking across a room the 10th time.
The UI feels somewhat unresponsive / buggy. Not sure if that's introduced by the remake; I remember it working nicer than this on the original.
It was a good nostalgia trip, but I won't be back.
If you look fondly on The 7th Guest and don't have a copy of it, this version might be for you. If that's not the case, I would stay away from it.
The remaster graphics are basically a slight uprez of the resolution, while smoothing out the edges, leaving everything with a bit of a blurry pastiche. The music has been upgraded from the original midis, but still sounds like they always have. MojoTouch left in the ability to revert the graphics and sound to the originals and it's a bit of a toss which looks better most of the time.
The best additions, by far, are the improvements to movement. Everything moves at a faster rate and you can skip forward by clicking the right mouse button. To add to accessibility, they included the option to highlight interactive areas.
They also included a map of the mansion, noting the rooms where you solved puzzles, which isn't something I remember from the original release.
However, this port still has some major issues. This includes occasional black screens on load, which you have to click out of and click back into to get to work, which doesn't always fix it, forcing a reboot. One time, this included reverting to earlier saves to get around the issue. It also includes occasional glitches, such as going through the sewer grate, the maze, and the tomb puzzles, only for it not to be recognized and needing to do it all over again.
So, did I enjoy my time with it? Sure. I even beat the game. And then had the game lock up on me. A perfect summation of my experience.
The 7th Guest is one of the best Adventure Point-and-Click Games ever. You know back in the days when they had two pixel soldiers running through a desert with worms or the "3D"-Environments only had a 32x32 texture to mark where the player is not allowed to go. Well ... And then there was the '7th Guest', with its hyperrealistic Environment and Animations. Allowing the player to crawl through a ghostly mansion and unravel the mysteries of the old Toymaker Henry Stauf.
This Game is cult. Every adventure-lover should have played it at least once. The Anniversary Edition offers a lot of extra Stuff, there are multiple Languages available with or without captioning. From the gamescreen You have direct access to the map (which is a very good improvement) and you can speed up animations, which is very useful in some puzzles ;)
So long story short, this game is marvelous and still today it makes fun to play.
I've never played the original game, so this Anniversary edition is my first contact with the franchise, and it was overall a positive experience.
I love the weirdness and the macabre that they were going for, and I'm a sucker for live actors in video games, so from that angle this hits the right spot for me.
The quality of life improvements are also really good; I feel I would not have liked the game without them.
The messy part for me were the puzzles. Some were pretty good and I got a kick out of solving them, but some were tedious (piano puzzle) or just plain annoying, unless you like that particular kind of puzzle.
Still, this was, and in a way still is, a passion project of the kind that is rare to see nowadays, and I feel it deserves respect for that at least. It's not a game for everyone, nor is it a game for all graphic adventure lovers, but it definitely has something to offer if you can get past the early nineties design.
Screen flickering, random stuttering during the transition, the graphic filter makes all the scene too much blurry.
Talking about the game. The puzzles are very tough , especially one puzzle if you are non-native english speaker i think you will need to check the solution.
When you solve one of the puzzles you get a quick scene that should explains you to game plot, but because usually puzzles can be solved almost in any order you have to pick up all the plot parts.
As a remaster is actually a 0 star game, the soundtrack and the game cover improved it by one star!
