It's a demo.
If you want to leave a 1 star review as the title doesn't say demo, do so. But it was free. Bad advertising? Yes. Dubious? Yes. Any other bad word/phrase you care to use? Very likely. BUT: In the first line of the description is does state the following: "Terraformers: First Steps on Mars is a free standalone version of Terraformers." It doesn't say it's a demo, and I'm pretty sure that the phrasing doesn't wuite imply it's demo or even a taster. It does state it's different to the full game. To GOG and the company who have created this, please change the title so fewer people have a hissy fit to a free game that only lasts 30 turns. Now, what of the game? 30 turns are enough to give you an overview of the game, and it is enjoyable, far more so then Surviving Mars. It's simple to learn, but difficult to get the hang of. It also needs a better tutorial. You have leaders who change every decade or so. Various resources to collect that'll help you build a functioning colony. You need the support of the colonists in order to keep going and have to bribe them with spas, tourist locations et al. That support function is a little overdone, but with a bit of tweaking is fine. The resources are harder to get that I'd expect, but not so hard it leaves me screaming at the screen. The events are interesting and some of the discoveries are...unusual. You have to take account of sandstorms, the relative height of parts of Mars [so your new cities do not get flooded when the rain starts to pour down], total number of cities and how they're connected, imported bacteria etc. There's no military, no other players, so it is just building a colony. I'm looking forward to the full game as this could be one I will lose days of my life to.
