Terminator: Dark Fate - Defiance

If this came out during the height of the real time strategy boom, it would likely be remembered as one of the all time greats. I couldn't be happier that a big time name like Terminator gave Slitherine the reins here, a true classic. Very difficult game, leaving you on the back foot trying to cling to every inch of ground. You match that with great voice acting and a classic theme...? oh my. I hope more franchises take this risk in the future - gaming ain't easy, at least when it's worth your time.

Tactical RTS, with excellent adherence to the licence and a great storyline. So rare these days, cheers to the developers. I woulr reccomend this!

Gave this a shot when it first came out and it was so broken I got a refund. Tried it again when I heard about the Uprising DLC and it's a lot better this time around. Don't let the Dark Fate timeline put you off from giving it a try. The game's story and graphics really nailed the setting and I haven't gotten any "modern audience" vibes from what I've played so far. If you like real time tactical games with a persistent company management element between missions this game is pretty awesome.

VOIR AVIS EN FRANCAIS PLUS BAS EN: Finished the campaign in 75 hours (I'm a beginner, so it must be quicker for those used to the genre). The campaign offers choices in the adventure that allow for some replayability, but at the expense, I find, of balancing. It's as if the studio hadn't anticipated everything. As a result, the missions are sometimes more difficult. Generally speaking, the game is really strategic. You really have to take your time and not rush. Don't forget to read the tutorial and the encyclopedia, which contains all the information on the units and vehicles of the different factions. The graphics are very good, I think, and really pay tribute to the film. Bottom line. I highly recommend this game to those who are familiar with the genre and Terminator fans. But for beginners, I'd advise you to look for a simpler game before playing this one. Les graphismes sont très bons, je trouve, et rendent vraiment hommage au film. Conclusion. Je recommande vivement ce jeu aux habitués du genre et aux fans de Terminator. Mais pour les débutants, je vous conseille de chercher un jeu plus simple avant de jouer à celui-ci.

Overall this game is worth to play. Fresh take on good old tactics/RTS genre executed pretty well - with passion and unique features. Some music and atmosphere - reminds me Metro (I know it's Terminator, but it's Dark Fate - the worst terminator universe possible, so let it be more like Metro). Some music and gameplay - The Last Days of Gaya / Soldiers of Anarchy Overall gameplay more like improved WH 40k Dawn of War without base building. RPG elements and quests remind me good old games like Star Wolwes, Nexus: Jupiter Incident and Homeworld. It just lacks cutcenes in RedAlert-style to make full bingo. Regarding gameplay: Tactics layer is ok (having direct control would be awesome, but still ok). It puzzles you to utilize different tactics, ambushes, rush and assault or siege and makes enough chaos to make you use tactical pause and think from time to time. Strategy layer is ok. Units are customizable which makes them actually unique (would be great to make unique models at least for named characters encountered during game, but still). Resource management also enough complex and enough simple (3 resources and scavenges/quests for refill). So pretty straightforward and enough unique for tactics/rts per se. Plot is a bit meh. Intro and first 3 missions are solid, then it becomes something else. Still chewable, but actually just dream of a dog.
