Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

After sinking 20+ hours in this game, the save games become corrupted and then I have to go back 2 hours to another save because all 3 autosave games don't work anymore. I'm not wasting my time with this one anymore until they fix the bugs. How disappointing!

I gave this game 2 changes, one at 1.0, and another at 1.1. Both times, I never managed to get steady FPS on the game. A rtx 5070ti and an i9 12K should be more than enough for this game. Refunded for the second, and last time. I'm not buying this game again unless the price drops like its FPS... 90%.

Overall absolutley love the astethic of the world in fact its one of the best worlds at first glance I've ever seen. I love the gritty look of the world. The design of the armor and character, I love the gore and violence depicted where its not afraid to show what the world is. Ultimately when I want a fantasy world, I want my worlds to look like this. But, the fact that the combat is somehow worse than skyrim, where i block, but oops the enemy was in its attack animation but was one inch out of rang of my block. And when you miss a block youre out of stamina and being ganged banged by 3 different enemies, youre just dead. You wanted to be focused on magic? well what if we give you two spells for the first three hours that dont scale to the enemies like the weapons do? That being said the magic system seems to have more potential compared to something like skyrim, but that is a very low bar as neither game gives you the resources to primarily focus on magic. Ultimatley the combat feels like a Soulslike which i can respect, even if i dont like souls likes, but this game feels like the worst sould like youve ever played. The story requires reading over 10-30 notes in the first hour of gameplay, and that after all that i still dont understand who i am, what the starting location is, and just basic information like that really turns me off to the game. I love a world where i dont understand everything, but this world leaves me confused and frustrated when they introduce 5 unique words that i have to memorize the unique definition of within 3 minutes of eachother and the defininitions and context are never mentioned again. I tried really hard to love this game, i love the idea of a better skyrim where instead of an ocean with the depth of a puddle we havea sea that is the depth of a sea, smaller in some regards but actually deep and interesting. But after almost three hours of gameplay i feel like ive waitsed my time and money.

Fun to play :) Summon wolves and suck the health out of the enemy.

*Beta build 05/09/23* Performance: occasional stuttering, framedrops are evident Combat: mediocre at best (very bland). For me, it was just hit with sword or poision spell and dodge attacks. The hits also feel like nothing. No reaction from the enemy or any evident damage to them. Reminds me a bit of skyrim which I loved at the time. However, that was 2011! Story: Average so far. Exploration: Not too many npcs outside the main area of the map. Also, most people (bandits) you encounter just attack you straight away (no dialogue to trick or manipulate these npcs from what I have played). Variation: Enemies vary, but all seem the same because the combat is bland (no thought or strategy for defeating enemies). Despite all of that, I believe that this game is promising. The developers can change all of my concerns for the full release as long as they will continue working on it.
