VERY Enjoyable Deck-building R-L

What caught my attention at first was this "Silent Hill in Nordic setting" vibe I got from looking at gameplays and SURE enough, they tell you pretty soon you are basically revolving in an Otherworld-ly afterlife. Which brings me to the writing that just ties everything together SO darn well and as a bonus, VA is more than decent. Sure, it sometimes undermines the story-tellers describtions but as long as the whole package is This far from bland, I don't mind. Gameplay itself? Think semi-openworld Darkest Dungeon with 1 chosen class using a deck and a lot of perks as your level grows from each fight. Pretty good! An Absolute 5/5 from me! I can think of 4 similar rogue-lites I've tried out before but haven't grabbed me like this one. GJ you guys!

Solid foundation but little variety

This is a surprisingly high quality roguelike, especially compared to the many competitors, with some decent production quality to boot. The voice acting's decent, the game feels polished, getting rewards after dying and finishing a run is satisfying and more importantly the combat feels fair, impactful and nitty-gritty. Having said that, you'll be looking at the same things visually and it could get tiresome. It's the same small village, same swampy forest, same "wyrdness" corridors all under the same gloomy dark atmosphere. There isn't much to really hone in on here. There's also little card variety for each class but you can mix and match cards to create your own style of play, which you'd have to spend a lot of time playing to reach this stage. I appreciate the character creator, armour sets, NPC backstories and the rune system, they help the world feel alive and give it that nice RPG spice. They sprinkle nicely on top of a dark fantasy, addictive roguelite that's fun to fun, explore with and experiment without feeling punished for doing so. I would have liked more environments and biomes, possibly positively and negatively effecting the battles, but I've never played the board game so I'm not sure how true to the source material that would be. Overall, it's a good game with a story to follow along with, but the main fun is the deckbuilding and finding synergies that help you win battles faster. Addictive, challenging and customisable. I definitely recommend!

Good game... with questionable designs

I think the deck building aspect of this is a lot of fun, if not suffering from balancing issues. The overworld stuff is a mixed bag. The questing is fun but the walking around the map doesn't make sense to me. The classes are great because they all play very differently. Every class has a specific ability card they start with. This is a card that returns or stays in yourr hand every turn. It's basically an identifier that tells you exactly how the class is meant to be played. A good example of this is the Blood Mage. You sacrifice a certain percentage of your health and you draw a random summon card that is in your deck. So if you have the board space you can summon a blood creature. Each one activates in a different way. Blood Wyrm attacks a random enemy. Blood Golem redirects all attacks to itself and heals itself every activation, and Blood Fae give you an Ultimate Charge. They last 4 turns: They level up one level per turn (or you can level them with cards in the deck for the Blood Mage). After 4 turns they "overcharge" (unique again to the blood mage) and they are destroyed with a special effect for he overcharge. But that is only one example The Sentinal class builds a charge based on how many arrows are shot. You expend charges to play quiver cards or you build it up and use for a special effect. It's cards are completely different, it's got a unique ability card. The Summoner summons similar creatures that phase in and out of and do different things depending on what form they are in. Another element that is different from every class is the Ultimate Meter. This is charged differently depending on what class you are playing. The blood mage charges thiers by Blood Fae or everytime it sacrifices some of it's health. The Sentinel charges it by shooting arrow. A certain number of charges has a special effect, you can use this once per turn. It adds an interesting strategic element to each class that is unique.

Nice game

This the first "card game" I played on PC, and I really enjoy it. I like the graphic style, storytelling (I have 10h played now and still no idea what is happening), diversity of enemies and the game system overall. The only minus I have is - as I've said it is my first such game - I would appreciate more detailed (or advanced) tutorial on the "game rules". Sadly, I have to learn some things the hard way.
