System Shock Demo

*Reserving one start for the final product* Hoe Lee Crap! I'ma Kickstarter the Poo out of this right now. All I can say is nailed it. The updates to the interface are perfect, the graphical re-imaging is outstanding, the enhanced audio is down right creapy...again...all I can say is Nailed It! I will edit this review when I can play further than 15 min...but knowing where the original goes, I am going to put on some brown pants when it does arrive. Lets make this successful so System Shock II gets a treatment as well.

I'd say the could capture the whole game original game in this demo, it's a amazing piece of work so far and I hope it can only get better. I'd totally support these guys on their Kickstart campaign, and I recommend you do the same.

The only problem with original System Shock (IMHO) are controls and UI. This DEMO is great in both of those aspects, as well as it is good looking and has adequate physics. At last in FPS you cannot miss ladder when trying to climb it. Good atmosphere. I will definitely want to play release version of this game.

As others have said, this demo is pretty cool. The interaction is similar to doom 3 and there are many things to interact with. It has a high-res look that becomes sort of low-res at close range, possibly due to using original assets but I think that actually looks interesting and strange. Occasional bugs and one crash aside, this has a ton of potential. However, fair warning, from looking at their kickstarter page it appears they WILL be putting backers into the game, at a fairly low price point too. From such a beloved and highly regarded series this is pretty disappointing. Yes, I think the demo is great and after playing it I was excited for the full game. Now, knowing that all it takes to force people playing to see some random idiot or stupid meme is $350, not so much.

Well, visually it's acceptable. Looks great at a distance, but textures are almost "8-bit" in their appearance up close. I enjoyed the animations when upgrades were installed and came online. Combat is currently lifeless and enemies have ridiculous reach. The orchestral score that plays in the "observation area' has got to go. I'm all for orchestral music, but the piece that plays here does not capture the mood of the visual setting at all. Nightdive has a lot of work ahead of them.
