Biggest Shock

I played this game when it came out, and to date I have not found another game that shared the same experienced as SS2. This game, basically, is legendary. First person, with many RPG aspects, and the fact that it was created over 10 years ago is incredible. Great plot, amazing gameplay, very atmospheric, but as with all games, flaws exist, but are easily brushed off. I recommend this to anybody who really enjoys campaigns.

Timing is everything...

I bought the game in 1999...and immediately bought windows xp (which id did not work on...). Off and on, for the next 11 years, I would attempt to get it working. FINALLY, last year, I found the steps to fix it, and played it. Folks, if you are into FPS games like Bioshock, these are the guys that MADE Bioshock. Even with the slightly dated graphics (which you can find some mods online to "pretty" up), this game holds up. You will twitch, sweat and jump out of your seat many times, and love every minute of it. But do yourself a favor, and don't wait 11 years...

Overhyped.

Granted, I did not play this when it was first released in the 90s, but I feel that the reviews on here are way too modest. Nearly 8 hours in I'm very bored with it. The story doesn't keep me in suspense, the atmosphere is boring, and some things irk me such as the abundance of chemicals for researching (they fill up your inventory drastically), the weapons seem way out of balance (I still prefer the wrench over anything), and the pure guess work of hacking. The narrative of the game is the same boring narrative that all mainstream FPS's have today. This game may have been the first to do it - I really don't care - it doesn't live up to being entertaining today. It's pretty bad that I can predict the cliches in the story before they happen because of the games today. Dues Ex is a much better FPS that I couldn't let go from beginning to end.

So excited that this is on GOG now...

This is my favorite game of all time. I played it when it first came out and fell in love. Over the years it's been hard to keep the game running on the newer operating systems. You would need to get cracks, change coding, and waste hours to get it to run sometimes, but even with all this hassle I would still periodicly pull my hair out getting it to run. It's worth it, and that's why it's so great to see it on GOG. There is a reason it's GOGs most requested game ever. Get it. Play it. Love it.

Fun as hell

I first played this when it came out back in the 90's, and I remember wondering why it wasn't more "exposed", by which i mean, why wasn't it on a bunch of advertisements, and why weren't people clamboring to buy it, because it's a very very good game. I was about 14 or 15 when i was first playing it so i scared me crapless. 10 years later, no, it doesn't scare me, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to play. Just try and make sure you don't hole yourself up in your room and play it for two days straight like i did.
