Fun meh Addicting yes
System shock was (IMO) Great in the 90's when it first came out, System Shock 2 was Different and again (IMO) was Good but short. It was Good when it came out but as now it's not so scary, it still has it's Graphical issues, and well it is short. I would classify this less of a RPG and more "Survival Horror" game. A lot of reviews here praise how good this game "Use" to be. I would say it is a quick fix. Don't buy it if you fall for all these people who praise how good it use to be buy it if you want a quick fix to your Horror game itch.

The Mac version suffers from crashes
The game itself - I'm three hours in - is extremely good, but I have been suffering from two crashes so far on my 2011 Macbook Pro so far. I just wanted to write this to tell people that the port to Macintosh seems a little bit unstable, though the textures seem to be slightly better than the original physical release.

A true classic
System Shock 2 is a wonderfully paced and atmospheric game. As a shooter RPG, its absolutely great. The enemies are imaginative and the weapons are responsive. The story is well presented and you will be compelled to keep playing. I do not give the game a perfect for 2 reasons 1. LOOKS POOR: The game is old. It isn't the worst looking game from the era and it isn't like it gets in the way, but if blocky models bug you, this will infuriate you. Mods are available to alleviate this. 2. POSSIBLE TO FAIL: Even with the well designed level system that offers a lot of playstyle variety, there are right and wrong choices. People who don't put any points in to hacking are going to hit a wall and, though it isn't required, PSI users are going to have an easier time in the late game. And investing into exotic weapons is pointless. Even with these flaws, this game should be played. Actually, I feel that all of the shock series should be played, with the exception of Bioshock 2.

Long overdue
I've always heard about this game and meaning to play this for years, but I've finally have bought and finished System Shock 2 after a much long, and regretted, procrastination. Holy cow have a missed out! It went beyond my expectations and then some. PROS: -The gameplay mechanics has a little learning curve, but they become extremely intuitive in a short amount of time. -the atmosphere is incredibly creepy and immersive; definitely keeps your hair stand in the back of your neck. -Good selection of weapons and ammo types -savaging can be rewarding CONS: -game could be a little longer (~17hrs) -ending is lackluster (just my opinion, but this absolutely not be a deal breaker) Overall: a wonderful and terrifying experience! I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who considers themselves apatient gamer that likes survival horror games. Also, I would suggest playing this game on higher difficulties (hard or impossible) to really feel the dread and the survival aspect of this game.
