Vaghen, 1937: Dana Roze is a 17-year-old girl, who is beginning a brilliant career as a pianist. However, shadows begin to appear over her future as the fascist threat of the Brown Shadow hangs over Europe, at the dawn of the Second World War.
Taiga, 2004: Kate Walker survives as best she can in the salt mine where she has been imprisoned, when a tragic event propels her into a new adventure in search of her identity.
Set off on an adventure across continents and through time. Play as both Kate Walker and Dana Roze as you get to the bottom of mysteries that have remained buried for too long.
Explore the fantastic and poetic world of Benoît Sokal, with its breathtaking sceneries and iconic characters.
Solve complicated puzzles and riddles in keeping with the tradition of the saga.
Discover a rich and captivating story with unprecedented stakes and gripping dialogue.
Allow yourself to be transported by the symphonic soundtrack composed by Inon Zur (Syberia 3, Fallout, Dragon Age, Prince of Persia).
Visually and musicaly it is striking, Aaaand.. thats it. There are no actual puzzles. The game play elements are:
- pick up piece of paper and read
- pick up object and rotate to find interactive spot
- click to watch interactive (or not) dialogue cutsceene.
The closest thing to this I played was Detroit: Become Human with amazing gameplay like click to wash dishes.
Might be comfortable to play it and space out on a sofa, idk..
Dieses Spiel hat mich emotional umgehauen. Mir fehlen die Worte. Ich konnte die Liebe und Hingabe der Entwickler überall spüren. Es war sehr entspannend zu spielen. Ich fand die Rätsel genau richtig. Dana's Gesicht....so schön gemacht.
This game blew me away emotionally. I am at a loss for words. I could feel the love and dedication of the developers everywhere. It was very relaxing to play. I thought the puzzles were just right. Dana's face....so beautifully done. I just liked everything about Syberia, as I did with the predecessors. Sadness and hope were always with me. The soundtrack by Inon Zur, fantastic. Thanks to all involved for this beautiful game. Hopefully the legacy of Benoît Sokal will continue. A film adaptation of Syberia would be nice.
Trully worthy successor that commemorates Benoit Sokals franchise.
Vaghen and its surroundings are so picturesque and beautiful I can's stop admiring them and dreading am moment when game ends and I can't see them anymore.
Plot is very well written and intriging, some cut scenes I wish to revisit again.
Few things that I would suggest improving:
1) camera rotation is rather awful and makes it hard to find some active points.
2) frame rate drops sometimes (guess there is a bug)
3) controls with mouse sometimes are a bit bulky when trying to go around area
Finally an adventure that's doesn't feel rushed. I love this Syberia for doing something that's becoming rare and rarer these days, it takes its time to draw you in in its beautiful world and doesn't rush to its conclusion. Sure it's not perfection. the story is not the most original you could hope and puzzles never get challenging, but you may find a lot of beauty in it and, strangely, some clockwork, escape room style puzzles that fit perfectly in this world.
For those concerned about the woke the're just a hint of it at the very beginning, tacked on as usual. Best to ignore it and move on, since the real Kate comes back soon and stays through the whole game.
After the disappointing third game this one shines.
The controls are good, the puzzles are just what you expect, the voice acting solid.
Can't say much about the story without spoiling too much.
Sadly, also this time the voice of Kate Walker sounds completely different than the rest, like it was done with a mobile voice recorder. I don't know why they can't manage to bring her voice actress to the same recording studio as the others or at least send her a good microphone.
It still has some of the weaknesses of earlier games, like the hotspot locations. If there is a large piece of paper, why can't I just click anywhere on the area? No, there is one specific point on that piece of paper that needs to be clicked. At least that point is marked now when the mouse enters that object. This becomes annoying when part of the object including the hotspot is off camera.
If you don't like Sokal-Adventures, you should not touch this one, it's made in the same spirit, even if some of the weaknesses are gone. You got to like that style, otherwise you will be disappointed.
If you didn't play them already, grab Syberia 1 and 2 first, they can often be found discounted or for free. This game has many references to the previous games. Also this way you can see if you like the narrative style.
