SWAT 4: Gold Edition

i love it its the only game i know of that is a realistic swat shooter. Recommend it!

Probably the best tactical FPS I've ever played. The amazing and challenging single-player (and co-op), and the multiplayer that no other title came even close to since both in intensity and one of a kind game modes (esp. VIP escort and Smash & Grab). Still waiting for the spiritual successor, been 15 years now..

I love dispatcher voice lines and briefings before the missions. Atmosphere in this game is great, you really feel immersed. The only issue I have is incosistent AI. Sometimes they don't listen to your commands and they have some weird pathing issues if you are in tight spaces. That is not that critical to the mission success; however, it becomes critical when AI can't clear rooms properly. AI does this often: they will stack up on the door, but they won't follow proper CQC protocol and they will leave themselves exposed to enemy angle of fire. Another issue is when they enter the room and come in contact with the armed suspect; they are way too passive and will die most of the time. So it basically all comes back to AI not clearing the angles properly. In conclusion, this game combines tactical shooter elements with micromanagment of your team. Despite the things I mentioned above, I still can't give this game anything less than 5 stars because there is nothing like this on the market.

SWAT 4 is a brilliant game where you are the team leader and need to plan the arrest of criminals. You need to choose every missions what you can take it. You have a team of 4 people that you can divide in 2 (2 blue and 2 red), infact each of team you can give orders (open door, break door, follow you, throwing granades, covering position ect) The ai is not perfect, but I like the fact that enemies are not in the same room when you restart the same level. The enemies can have mask so the smoke granades don't affect them, so you just need to understand what is the best you can do before to enter into a room. Sometimes you can't see enemies with opsnap (I don't remember the exact word, but is a monitor that you can put in the doors without open to check if everything is fine in the room you want to go inside and sometimes even you think is safe may a enemy can approach suddenly. You have also a sniper that is really cool. Is a 3d game with first and 3rd vision, it's a good FPS and I consider also with some elements of RTS game. The only thing I can complain is: this version doesn't have the Italian language, if I buy from gog I expect that is complete as a cracked version ;) Please, is like splinter cell that you sell also here missing Italian language, this thing doesn't understand very well --> the original version owned the Italian language but here I do not understand and can't accept this, because if I buy a full complete game I want all the languages available for that game those were out with the original release. Published with Italian language, because I paid money and I expect 100% that you one day put the Italian language into the game as it was released.

This is one of my favorite tactical shooters for good reason. If you liked the idea of the classic Rainbow Six games but weren't into the intricate planning phase but wanted something cerebral this is the game. You have two squads of two, plus yourself. You can issue orders: go here, breach and clear (with item), restrain, or use item here. The game forces you to learn your items and be able to work through the choke points with your limited resources. As you progress, the enemies become more difficult, hostages are in danger, everything requires precise timing, you begin to need to give simultanious orders to your teams. Though there is a draw back with this version, the AI likes to ignore you sometimes if you order something too quick. Inherent to the game is the issue of just standing there and waiting while there is an active attacker. Small issues, you're not penalized anywhere near as hard as in the R6 games, but frustrating. Though my final answer is to buy the game. The expansion is amazing and fixes many little nit-picks. It's much more dangerous though you have more options.
