In Supreme Commander 2, players will experience brutal battles on a massive scale! Players will wage war by creating enormous customizable armies and experimental war machines that can change the balance of power at any given moment. Take the role of one of the three enigmatic commanders, each representing a unique faction with a rich story that brings a new level of emotional connection to the RTS genre. Where do your loyalties lie?
A deep and powerful story - element adds a personal, human aspect to a storyline previously focused on warring factions and the politics that fuel them. The single player campaign features three character-driven storylines set 25 years after the events of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
Command enormous armies made up of customizable land, air and naval units. Each of the three diverse factions – The United Earth Federation (UEF), the Cybran Nation and the Illuminate – have been completely redesigned from the original game, with many units.
Experimental units - returning with new designs and greatly enhanced looks….and some new tricks that can be unlocked through research
New Supreme Commander Gameplay Experience - players now have the ability to research new technologies and units and deploy them instantly on the battlefield, allowing them to upgrade a base-level tank to a high-powered, multi-barreled, AA-sporting monster by the end of a given game.
Strategic Mode UI - the redesigned UI that is faster, takes up less screen real-estate and gives better player feedback
New rendering technology that allows us to create visually spectacular environments
Enjoying the heck out of this game! Great graphics, lot of tactics, a lot to learn but easy to pick up on! Plays WAY better than Warhammer 4k Dawn of War, with much better pricing!!
Definitely going to look for more like this one!!
First off,
the game is awesome. I didn't realize this , but Square Enix helped develop it.
The Computer provides a nice challenge as well. And oddly enough , the factions are well balanced and fun to play. And the graphics are actually pretty decent.
The only downside is that in the last few days, the game hasn't worked. Hopefully it's just a GOG glitch because I really enjoy this game.
gets boring as it goes on. the shallow unit limity really dampens the gameplay. also dont like the building animations as they seem stupid and pc resource greedy.
I'm not gonna lie, the game is absolutely amazing. I've played the first SC as well, and SC2 expands very successfuly on the first game.
The unit roster is great for all three factions, the maps are cool, the gameplay is amazingly brutal at times, everything works VERY well together.
Now, this is where it gets tough, for me personally.
I'm not too big on strategy game campaigns and story.
Now I'm sure that SC2 has at least a decent story, and I'm sure that there are loads of people who find most of their enjoyment of the game there, but that's not me.
To me, if a strategy game doesn't have the ability to hold my attention with skirmishes / random map games alone, I won't play it.
And that's the point: once you've played the game for all three factions once, the game won't surprise you anymore.
I did exactly that, cranking up the AI difficulty with each game. That is fun for a couple hours, but it gets stale. It's not helped by the fact that the game has embarassingly few maps for you to play on.
Even the unit roster, while each faction has a unit for every situation and specification, gets stale. You basically have around 10 units per faction if you play on land maps, 15-ish on water maps. That's nothing too great.
I imagine that the game would probably be best suited for multiplayer matches, but again, not really my cup of tea.
Hence my three stars.
Super well made, well thought out, better than the first game, but there's just too little stuff to mess around with, and it gets very repetitive and boring FAST.
