Super Hexagon

I don't even mean ''the game is bad'' : I set my record to 18 sec after a few minutes of play and then I felt my head spinning ( still gonna keep it for collection). But since it's not that complicated of a game all I can write is : if you like arcade games that manages to be fun and innovative with their simplicity , disregard the 3 star grade, for you is probably a 5 star. For all the other players, It's a nice game that actually brings to the table some thinking behind its deceivingly simple gameplay and could be for you.. if you don't have a headache first!

Super Hexagon is fantastic. Extremely difficult but never impossible, the game has clearly been tuned very finely. And it's totally addictive. You *WILL* be frustrated, curse Terry Cavanagh's name, and ragequit. And then five minutes later you'll find yourself playing it again. I've put maybe 50 hours into this very cheap game, so it's great value too. Also, the soundtrack is awesome. Highly recommended.

I got this game during an HB with Android. I wasn't expecting much, but this game is just amazing. It looks simplistic, and it is, but this game is deceptively simplistic. It is insanely difficult and simply tons of fun. I am so glad that it is on GOG now. This is a game that I usually turn to when I don't know what else to play. It is simply a game that I can get into no matter what I'm doing. If you want pure fun, buy it.

For the first 5-10 minutes I thought I had wasted my money on this one and wondered why it had gotten such a wonderful reputation. But when I stuck with it for just a little while longer and started being able to read the barriers a bit more I started to have a good time with it. It's certainly punishingly difficult but it's also a pretty fun and simplistic game.

Honestly I agree with most of the reviews here. There is no story, just pure repetetive gameplay. And that's far from a bad thing, because the gameplay is addictive and restarts are frictionless. However, there are four cons I can recall, fixing which wouldn't be hard and would elevate this game to a legitimate masterpiece. Number one: audio settings. You can only toggle audio on or off, nothing like volume slider, much less an option to change levels of different elements (voice, effects, music). That means to change the music volume, you have to mess with settings of your OS. Big yikes. Number two: resolution settings. You can only toggle windowed mode, nothing else. Not a big deal with a small resolution monitor, but terrible for a large resolution one. Even bigger yikes. Number three: Resolution capped at 60 fps. Again, this wasn't an issue when the game was released, but now it kinda is. Number four: There's only six levels? Yeah, they're tough as nails so it's not like this game is 20 minute affair, but still.
