Mature content notice: Sunrider Academy contains explicit language, strong sexual themes, partial nudity and is intended for mature audiences.

You are Kayto Shields, an ordinary man thrown into an extraordinary adventure. It was only his first day as the vice president of the Sunrider Academy student council when the unreasonable class president appointed him to be the school club manager. “These clubs cause nothing but trouble,” she said. “I’m appointing you to take charge and fix them up by the end of the year!”

Add to that another completely unreasonable bet with his little sister that he’ll get a girlfriend by the end of the year, and Kayto’s school life already seems hectic! But that’s not even the worst of it! Kayto soon learns that the captains of each of the clubs he’s supposed to manage have serious issues of their own. Surrounded by girls lacking any common sense, his wacky days at Sunrider Academy begin!

You will take control of Kayto as he carefully manages both his student life, and his responsibilities as club manager.

Study hard, bring glory to Sunrider Academy, and get a girlfriend!

Piece of cake, right?

A bit of story and a lot of grinding

The game starts out interesting, but gets to repetitive very soon. The constant grinding gave me a headache and I had to stop the game at some moment. What is it about. Your character is student council vice-president who is given the task from student council president to take care of 3 problematic student clubs or they will be shut down. Of course all the club presidents are girls. Your task is to make the clubs successful. There is also a background "task" given by mc's sister: to find a girlfriend by the end of the year. That doesn't sound that bad and it would be a pretty solid story, but constant grinding simply makes you give up on story and (maybe even) rage quit. So, if you are used to grinding games of similar genre give it a try. If you don't like grinding or get easily annoyed by them, avoid by all cost.

More tedious than fun

The one route I ran was really fun, but by the end of the game the life simulation aspects started to drag it way day. By the end of the game I was just mindlessly clicking on activities hoping that no one would be there so that the activity would go by quicker. The actual plot I did was interesting enough that I was tempted to do another one, but there is just no way I could get there the day-to-day activities again anytime soon. With MoA and Liberation Day you could at least set the difficulty to easy to essentially skip the battles if you didn't think the gameplay was well done. That's not possible with Academy, however. There is a difficulty slider, but it just makes you more likely to succeed in activities, so you still have to go through the game day by day. If you can get past the repetitiveness, then the plot is funny, and it is interesting to see the cast in such a different light than the main series, but before you buy it make sure you're ready for the long haul.

80% Life Sim, 20% Dating Sim

Graphics - Crisp anime style, looks very modern Sound - The emotional tunes are really good at setting the mood. Normal day-to-day sounds are ok but they can get tiresome after a while (owing to the gameplay) Gameplay - Like my review's title says, I find it to be 80% life sim and 20% dating sim. Maybe a visual novel / choose-your-own adventure style mode would help? Like the Waifu Mode but without the time management aspect. Story - Can be over-the-top at times. Definitely not for kids Replayability - The waifus are pretty interesting characters so you'll likely end up doing at least one more replay to satisfy your curiosity. I ended up doing 4 runs to see what happens with each waifu. Each one of them is endearing in their own way, and for me it's Chigara / Sola > Asaga > Ava

Top Tier Waifus

I thoroughly enjoyed the game, before the Sunrider series I had never so much as touched a Visual novel. I really appreciated the artstyle and the resource management aspect of the game. It took a little while to get used to the gameplay but once I figured it out I managed to get my character into a routine. The story is quite engaging, I went through all the paths and it gave pretty good insight into your characters dynamic with a certain XO in Mask of Arcadius and Liberation day. The storylines are quite compelling and the soundtrack is engaging and does a masterful job of eliciting emotions. I truly enjoyed the game and I look forward to Love in Space's next release.

Good waifus, bad game mechanics

This is a game with nice, enjoyable plot lines for the PC's possible romantic interests, which is unfortunately burdened by a disappointing game mechanics. The managerial part of the game is the dominant one in term of time, and, while it can be mildly entertaining the first time you play, it becomes quite boring once you have finished one story line and you try to start another one. On the other hand, as it has been written by some other reviewer, the waifus are top tier.
