Styx: Master of Shadows is an infiltration game with RPG elements taking place in a dark fantasy universe, where you sneak, steal and assassinate your way through as Styx, a Goblin two-centuries of age.

Deep inside the vertiginous and multi-layered forsaken Tower of Akenash, where Humans and Elves protect the World-Tree, source of the Amber – a powerful and magical golden sap – is hidden Styx’ chance to understand his true origin... and to make a fortune at the same time.

Prowl through the huge, miles-high Tower of Akenash, completing various missions (assassination, information recovery, etc.) and avoiding detection. Progress in the shadows, assassinate your targets in close combat, or orchestrate «accidents». RPG mechanics let you unlock new powerful skills, impressive special moves, and an optimized equipment. Amber will grant you spectacular powers such as invisibility, «amber vision», and the ability to clone yourself. Good Stealth and big levels

Played with Virtual Desk and VR headset. Really enjoyed the game. I love the thief series and gave this one a shot. Glad I did. This is a stealth game first and foremost. Although you can be 'in your face' with some of the interactions, it'll take away from your score. I found greater enjoyment playing on higher difficulty and avoiding any killing. Makes it tougher and more realistic. I enjoyed the level design which has many different paths to proceed on the maps. The layouts make you think in a vertical sense since you can get close to the ceiling or down underneath the floors. Lots of options. There is some repeativeness and the enemy A.I. is not the best and at times is head-scratching and also comical. Still, worth a purchase and play when on sale on GOG.

Great Stealth but..

This is a great stealth title with line of sight and binary light and dark hiding mechanics. I wish that maybe there were some quality of life things like automatically pickjng up bodies better cover systems and the ability to round corners when hangjng from ledges but all in all a great stealth title.

Solid Classic Stealth

It feels like this develepment team really used their resources wisely when making this game. It's obviously a AA title but the gameplay mechanics are very realized and the level design really shines. Choices on how to tackle guards and navigate the levels are both present, which I feel are necessary for good stealth games. The story and voice acting are both solid and fun, the characters have personality, and the graphics are serviceable enough to convey whats going on. For what this game is swinging for and the budget it was working with, I think it nails it.

Only few hours in I'm loving the premise of this game and the fleshed out RPG mechanics. Will review once completed.
