Street Fighter Alpha 2

Playing this on Ubuntu Mate 18.04 LTS 64 Bit using Wine 3.0 - I have wine set to open up the ALPHA2.EXE Many will talk about the other versions but if you were a dedicated computer gamer back in the day and you enjoyed fighting games like I did, you picked up what you could and have fun with some mates. I had this game back in the day but sold it when it went up in price back in 2006. I missed it so much that I grabbed the GOG copy recently as I went to a few FGC events and replayed it on a few computers with some other players and I just had to get it. The game has some flaws as a port but I've found a way to set it up just right in Linux to play really excellently. First, I am playing this game via two main controllers: Logitech F310 Wired and Hori RAP3 KIA fighting stick. I had to make some changes first in the keyboard settings then go into the pad setting to get all of the buttons working the way I like them. Second, I went into options and put the speed on all stars except for 2. After that game runs awesomely. I have this installed on my HTPC, Main Gaming Rig and my gaming laptop. I highly recommend you get this game and get back into the fight.

It worked very well for me and all the settings worked, including changing the video quality and keyboard layout. There is no option to change the control from analogue to digital and it does not work on the Dpad. (PS4 controller)

Was working very well with my "Xbox One Elite" controller until the game auto-paused. The free OST you get aren't the orginals sadly.

I had high hopes for this game, really and brings back memories when I used to play this game in the arcade. Sadly I think it should of stayed there and not been ported to the PC. The game does run fine and is stable, but the menu system in this game is terrible. An annoyance I found using my Xbox Controller if I combine a down right joystick move with another button it pauses the game. A better fighting and to me looks better is Guilty Gear X2 Reload. Street Fighter Alpha I think would be worth it if it was $3, not $6. I'm not saying this game was terrible, but it's clearly more of a console game than a PC game.

Just happened to see it while it was already on sale and it was an instant buy. Two bucks for a registered, legit, non-emulated copy of SFA2. I see other reviews saying that this is just a re-release of the PC version of the game and that the emulated MAME copy of the game looks better and plays better, but I still am very happy to have purchased this. When I was a kid fighting games on PC were unheard of. You had One Must Fall, and that was about it. I am more than willing to spend two dollars on GOG to show Capcom that the interest is there for older Street Fighter games on PC. I would have spent the 6 if the game hadn't been on sale when I first discovered it had been released on GOG. It's my dream that someday we will see a SFIII release on PC and the only way we are getting there is if we as a community support releases like this. Thanks GOG for bringing this title to modern computers. P.S.- The game did NOT recognize my 360 controller and instead found my iBuffalo SNES gamepad (while both were plugged in), which is what I prefer to use when playing 2D fighters as I feel the D-pad to be more responsive and it has all the buttons I need. I had ZERO issues pulling off special moves using a controller with a reliable D-pad and would think that anyone's problems executing special moves in this release to be the fault of their choice of controller and not the game itself.
