Description

This version contains Strategic Command WWII: Community Pack DLC

Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe is a deeply immersive turn based strategy game covering the greatest conflict in modern history.

Take control over either the Axis or the Allies, while directing the efforts of each nation belonging to your alliance. From this unique perspective, you will be the supreme mastermind behind the entire conduct of operations, deciding the priorities, the strategies, and coordinating your global efforts to win the war!
Each nation in your coalition will have their own strengths and weaknesses, levels of technology, troops, equipment, and industrial capacity, and it will be up to you to make the best use of all of them!

Wage war across land, sea and air, employing a wide range of historical units combined with multiple avenues of technological upgrades. With research and development, the demands of combat and limited resources, balancing the day to day requirements of the war against your long term strategy will all be critical to ultimate success and victory.

Diplomacy and espionage will also be key tools to employ against your enemy as a war like this cannot be fought solely with military forces. Manage your relationships with neutral powers – encourage or pressure them to join your alliance, support your war effort or deny their resources to the enemy!

Through careful management of your resources, judicious research choices, wise strategic choices and brilliant deployment of your military plan, you can shape the outcome of this terrible conflict whilst continually competing against one of the most advanced AIs ever made. In Strategic Command the enemy will counter attack you every time, taking advantage of your weak points, setting traps for your forces, while waging a brutally efficient campaign on every front.

Fury Software's aim with the Strategic Command series has always been to recreate World War II in a deep yet very accessible manner. Experienced wargamers will find much to love in it!

The best medium complexity Strategic WW2 game

Overall I find this is the best strategic level WW2 game. It combines playability, challenge and historical flavour better than the other games on the market. The whole campaign is quite large, and long, but the game is approachable even for newcommers. One unit per hex. The focus is clearly on maneuvering units on the map, however there are also technology development and diplomacy. This one cover only War in Europe, and North Africa, it also includes USA east coast. In contrast the "World at War" version cover the whole globe. And though I haven't played the larger version, I think this one is better and more focused, the WaW being much longer to play and it is easier to fool the AI on the complete world map. Compared to Heart of iron 3, You are not lost into micromanagement. And the historical accuracy is way better, the AI is also much better

A very good game

A very accessible strategy game, and a good one, that`s not overly complex but not lite. The good thing about the game, for me at least, is that the map is quite big and the AI is very capable. In terms of difficulty and complexity this,IMO, fits in the middle of games like GG`s War in the East (über grognardy) and Panzer Corps (beer and pretzel wargame). I hope the developers makes a WW1 conversion of this one in the near future.

A Streamlined HOI4

Despite repeated attempts, I just could not get into Hearts of Iron 4. Being an avid historian I gave it a fair shot. HOI4 gameplay, whilst deep, is unnecessarily complex and the front line system is messy. For those wanting an 'easy to play, hard to master' title had to look elsewhere. Strategic Command fills this need for me. The interface is easy to use, and within minutes you'll be moving troops around and ordering new units. The game allows you to focus on the strategy. The graphics won't win awards, but everything looks sharp and units are well drawn. After a while you'll start to appreciate the depth. Supply makes a massive difference to how successful you'll be, bombers need to be escorted, technology needs to be up to date and units upgraded. The AI is good and will strike if it detects a weakness. Many games get the AI wrong; and this was refreshing. There are some negatives. Turn times are long. You can turn off animations; but then you miss any of your units that were destroyed. If you like playing as the UK, you may struggle to retain North Africa as it has terrible supply issues. I suppose this is realistic to a degree, but its frustrating as the AI doesn't seem to have any issues countering my units. My biggest gripe is that you can't set a destination for units that they automatically follow every turn. Overall, this is a great game. It's quite expensive for what it is, so I'd wait for sale.

A rare delight, even with its flaws.

One day.. I will take charge of Gary Grigsby's armies and charge my way through the eastern front... some glorious day!! In fact I have given it a try more then once. Until that dream is fulfilled, Strategic Command will continue to dish out some of the most enjoyable tactical combat I have experienced. This is one of the few games I have played that just leaves me utterly satisfied. There are flaws, but I will skip over them as they don't hinder the gameplay, just a few under utilized aspects (*cough* diplomacy *cough*) But the decisions you make have lasting, interesting effects. The key statement I will say is that if you want a to play freely, and break the chains of history, go to Startegic Command: World At War. This game will take you down the paths already charted by the past. If you are Germany and don't invade Russian, even with great relations.. they invade you, as the game would be easily beated if you had any sort of friendship with them. If you want a joyous experience tromping through World War 2, and don't have the time or capacity for the giants as Grigsby's masterpieces, please, have a go at Strategic Command. These games are a joy to play.

Being playing hex games since the original Panzer General back in the 90s. Since then, many developers have tried to bring in new versions of the same thing, with various levels of success. This is one of the good ones. It is medium level complexity, easy to learn the mechanics and the supplied digital manual makes it all pretty clear. The graphics are a bit dated, but good enough, the gameplay is what it is all about, and this game delivers IMO Has supply, economy, research, and the scenarios have triggered events that you are free to ignore, but gives a guiding hand to beginners that are not sure who, where or when to attack. It is pricey. but if you like like hex games, this game will give a heap of game time and plenty of replicability, so worth it.
