Fun, but mediocre
This is, as other reviewers have said, a pretty simple-laid back game. The gameplay loop is straightforward - you go to other islands, run around to check out the randomly-generated loot of the day, head back to camp with your new finds, and use it to improve the camp and make people happy. If you're looking for excitement, this isn't the game for you, but it's been great to play while sick and suffering from fatigue and brainfog. However, the devs... don't seem to have realized that that's what they've made. At least, that's the best guess I can make after trying to play minigames that expect you to have lightning-quick reflexes, dealing with a relationship system that gives you extra points for coming up with a thoughtful and original house layout for each character, and most frustratingly, wrangling a "guess the favorite" puzzle system (the Crew Stew) that requires multiple in-game days of experimentation to find ingredients that each character likes. Which wouldn't be nearly as frustrating on its own, but you basically have to farm these characters for their gratitude try and unlock a seemingly endless cascade of rewards - many of which are further gated by resources that you have to collect to build them, essentially forcing you to unlock them twice. Despite this, I do still like it. I just think it needs a lot more workshopping to be considered a 'complete' game.
