CHALLENGING COMBAT BETWEEN AUTOMATONS
Up against the king's mechanical soldiers, deadly accuracy will be needed. String together dodges, parries, jumps and devastating attacks to fight your way through Paris. Every fight will test your nerve and requires excellent discipline, while the huge relentless machine bosses demand patience and skill.
AEGIS: A CHARACTER WITH EXTRAORDINARY SKILLS
Define your own style and upgrade your abilities as you progress through the game. You can play as a ruthless warrior, a hard-hitting bodyguard, a deadly dancer or a virtuoso of the elemental arts. Take advantage of a wide variety of weapons and skills to approach each fight in your own unique way.
REVOLUTIONARY PARIS IS YOUR PLAYGROUND
Using carriages, grapples, secret passages, a detailed map, and other methods and tools you find along the way, explore a city experiencing its darkest days. Your grappling hook adds a new dimension to exploration and Paris's verticality. Combined with your dash ability, it will provide access to all the city's secrets across multiple levels you can explore over and over again.
CHANGE THE COURSE OF HISTORY
You are one of the main characters of an alternative history where Paris is being choked by a tyrant king. Allies and enemies with unclear motives will cross your path, such as Marie-Antoinette, Lafayette and Robespierre. It's up to you to cut a path through all the plotting and put an end to one man's madness so that the French Revolution succeeds.
Usually I don't touch such games but it has the assist mode, allowing you to adjust the difficulty to your liking. I had an amazing time with this title. While the facial animation of the human characters are rather plain, and the voice acting passable to forgetable. The gameplay is really good.
Various weapons to try out and some of the fight can get challanging, but in the end you moustly fight the same enemies a lot. Regardless, I had a very good time playing it. The maps are large and at times really beautiful. Others are dark and filled with bodies.
If you are not a souls fan, this game will make it easier for you to get a taste of it when having the assist mode enabled.
Good game but very bad optimisation.
Very bad first part of the game which seems "indy" and later on it is good.
Very hard to understand story at the beggining.
I like souls like games and im playing without asssists. Game is hard at the beggining. Later on - not mostly. Luxembourg is diffucult.
I think gamers turn off game because of bad beggining and optimisation.
I have RX6600 and i must play on lowest settings and i have spikes to 30 fps.
As usual with Spiders games, the worldbuilding is great. Even if this time it's not a RPG, The team managed to create an interesting setting without that many text and dialogue. As usual the quality of the game impoved and... that's all for the comparison! This time it's a soul like action adventure and it really looks like an AAA production, environements and design are beautiful. On the gameplay side it's very good and efficient, combats are fun and challenging. The assist mode is perfect and make you able to finetune the difficulty by adjusting several parameters like damage reduction from ennemies, energy refill rate ,etc. Every soul like games should have this. The only downpoint is the optimization that is not good at all, do not hope using the best textures. Anyway, I expected a good game and in fact I had a Great Time.
A perfect game for people who want to get into the souls-like genre. Not to difficult, yet still challenging, and quite enjoyable.

Steelrising is an RPG with Soulslike elements — it’s not a Hack and Slash. It’s not the first to mix these elements, of course, but it’s a good game. The historical context, the blend of fiction and fantasy with well-known figures from French history and the French Revolution, is fun and immersive, and the storyline is very solid.
On the downside, movement and camera control can be problematic at times. Even though Aegis is an automaton doll, the lack of fluidity — combined with the camera often obstructing the view — seriously hurts the combat experience.
I just can’t understand why Soulslike games, and others inspired by them, insist on including platforming sections — like jumping from one ledge to another. Many of these games are already clunky by nature, and then they expect you to jump around on platforms? It honestly feels like it’s just there to test the player’s patience. Oh well.
On the positive side, the game is immersive. Aegis’s voice acting suits her perfectly — it’s charming, with a sweet tone. At the same time, it sounds mechanical, fitting for an automaton, while also conveying a deep sense of sadness and, at times, emptiness (kudos to Cassie Layton).
All in all, it’s a game that blends its elements well. It’s challenging, though not as hard as a typical Soulslike. It has a strong narrative, collectible documents that are genuinely enjoyable to read and that help flesh out the characters. There are great boss fights and a wonderful soundtrack.
If you enjoy all of that, go for it — fun is guaranteed.
