SteamWorld Dig 2 retains the original's addictive resource-gathering gameplay, but supplements it with a gorgeously detailed, handcrafted world. Its heady mix of exploration, combat, platforming, and puzzle solving, alongside an expansive set of abilities and mods gives it plenty of variety and a great gameplay rhythm. I wish there was more to do once the campaign ends, but that's a testament to the fact that what is here is just about pitch perfect.

Not enough digging but still great fun.
The sequel seemed shorter than the original (though it's been years so I might be remembering wrong) and I would have enjoyed more actual digging considering that's the title play mechanic because by the time I'd completely upgraded my pickaxe and punch there was nothing left to mine. There were still some respawning mobs to grind if I wanted to buy enough cogs for every upgrade in the game but without more map to explore there'd literally be no point. (Having every upgrade isn't part of the 100% comopletion achievement.) Despite feeling a bit shortchanged on the length of the game it was still every bit as fun as the original and I recommend Steamworld Dig 2 only fractionally less than it's predecessor.

A+ sequel with more mining goodness
If you liked Steamworld Dig, this game is a sure buy. It has the same dieselpunk charm of all the other Steamworld games, and delivers another rootin' tootin' mine diggin' adventure in the old west. There's a few new twists in the upgrades, but mostly it's just more Steamworld Dig with the same polish and charm as the first game.
