So what are you waiting for? Dive into the unknown and uncover the BONE TOTEM beneath the waves.
The story is excellent. Lots of convenience for a point-and-click adventure game.
I have a few problems with some puzzles, but this is a great play. I tried not to be too tied to the guide, but about halfway through I got so invested in the story I had to blast through the game.
It feels a lot more polished than previous games in the series. I liked the setting, the characters, their interactions and the gameplay itself, even though a few were very vague and had me consult a guide in order to progress. Main strength is the characters and how they change throughout the game. The characters have very different personalities and they themselves and their relationships change a lot as the story progresses. I found myself inspecting new items with every character as I wanted to read what each of the characters thought about a certain item. There is a lot of hidden storytelling in details like that and especially Moses' comments are very fun to read.
The only real weakness is the at times a bit out there story. Without spoiling anything I felt like the story was made up of many separate parts that at times did not blend too well and could have done better as several separate games. It felt a bit more like Beautiful Desolation in that regard. A lot of wild ideas packed into one game. Previous Stasis titles were kind of subtle in comparison and focused on the main ideas and a main story.
Difficult to say if its a 4 or 5 out of 5 but I'll give it a 5 because of the characters, their interactions and the great variety. Really solid game despite the story sometimes being a bit too out there.
I'm not a horror games person, but the atmospheric looking graphics and top down view when playing, really pulled me in.
And the game didn't disappoint! Great story, great sound, great characters, especially Moses the bear which at first creeped me out but as the story progressed, the bear became my favourite character.
So, my advice to you, just like Moses, be very smart and courageous, try the demo and you wont be disappointed!
I cant say enough good about this game! If you're looking for a great story, and a great horror atmosphere to sink your teeth into, look no further.
Im a gamer who likes to sit and think about things, so Bone Totem really scratched that itch for me. The puzzles were challenging, but not impossible. You may feel lost at times, but the game can give you a few hints without holding your hand. Even the character pathing, although a little clumsy at times, is very servicable and never breaks the immersion, which in a game like this is what you are paying for. Would give it 6 stars if I could.
This is a great game and love the references to the previous game Stasis. I think my one criticism would be that I hate the whistling while reading logs. Wish there was a way to turn that off.
