Everything THE BROTHERHOOD has put out has been far worth every penny. It's been so exciting watching this team grow their development skills over the years through each excellent game they've made. The UI is far less finicky now than it was in the original STASIS, but the mood, visuals, storytelling, and of course the fantastic Mark Morgan soundtrack are everything they should be and just what we've come to expect from this series.
I picked up the game as soon as I saw it had launched. I really enjoyed this developer's previous games and didn't know they were working on a sequel, so it was a very pleasant suprise.
The gameplay is very similar to their previous titles, meaning it is a robust isometric point&click with reasonably large areas to explore and frequent puzzles to solve. The puzzle difficulty varies over the course of the game. I became stuck a handful of times and used the hint guide included with the game to proceed.
I really liked that all puzzle items in the game have different written descriptions depending on which character you have selected, as this feature ocasionally helped me figure out who should be using which item. I also liked the idea of the new inventory and character skill system.
The music largely stayed in the background for me, but was fitting and atmospheric throughout, as were the sound effects.
I loved the voice acting of the major characters, their performances really brought the characters to life for me and elevated the entire experience.
I love the visual style of this game. It mixes isometric 'zoomed-out' graphics, detailed 3D models, and almost photorealistic images to create a unique and beautiful presentation. Some of the animation work can be a bit stilted, but I found the complete package to be excellent.
I found the story interesting, and I was occasionally caught off-guard as it developed. I found the written descriptions somewhat 'flowery', but overall enjoyed reading everything the game had to offer, including all the PDA logs.
If you are comfortable with the dark and gruesome subject matter and visuals, then I highly recommend this game.
I love Moses, he is the smartest bear.
I was expecting a short and nice isometric point and click adventure, maybe some occasional horror now and then and the usual inventory puzzles. What I got was an epic story with likeable characters, great voice overs, beautiful and at the same time horrifying artstyle and lightning and quite a lot of creative and interesting puzzles that go far beyond your usual inventory puzzles (which are also included). The more I played the more I felt as if I'd play a movie. Maybe because of the top notch cinematics, maybe because of the great voice overs that made me feel with the characters. The game also was not short and it took me 20 hours to finish it. If you like Sci-Fi Horror and point and click adventures you can't go wrong with this one.
If you enjoy Sci-Fi/Horror and/or anything else this team (The Brotherhood) has made then you owe it to yourself to get this game. The puzzles can be tricky, but can be solved and if not there is an in-game Hint system. Like Aliens meets Lovecraft maybe? Check out the Demo if your curious and if you at all enjoy that you will absolutely love the full game!
NOTE: I've was playing this early on Steam, but had to grab my copy here.
