Harrowing, bleak and yet optimistic
I've always enjoyed the developers' work so I know I might be biased, but what a masterpiece! The art is absolutely incredible, bleak, monstrous, hard, harrowing... The story is really well written and wraps around you slowly. The game did such a good work in being bleak and getting under my skin that I ran towards the different PDAs and documents as they meant a break from my almost-permanent feelings of despair and the sheer horror of the environments. And this is a good thing, this is what you want from a game, the escape from reality and an immersion that pulls you in. I had a lot of fun with the puzzles but the inventory puzzles were my favourite. The attention to detail is everywhere, I loved how the objects' description changed depending on who was looking at them. Sometimes you'd get a clue, sometimes an innocent comment from Moses :) It's taken me around 17h to complete and I had to take lots of breaks because the environments are so ominous that I needed some puppy videos in-between sessions. Exactly what I signed up for! If you're thinking of buying this game I can't encourage you enough. If you've already played this game - how cute is Moses! And so kind, certainly one of my favourite characters. I loved his life advice, his optimism and bravery, and how he found bromance and courage in the least imaginable places. It filled me with a sense of optimism in the middle of the horror. Brilliant game, honestly.
