Okay, with some problems.
So if you want to complete the game well, you're basically scanning hundreds of planets traversing hundreds of stars in a methodical fashion. This part is not particularly fun. The especially "not fun" part is the game devs snuck in some "classic DOS" elements where, if you didn't keep track of everything you read, you won't find everything. This would be fine if it were superfluous, but some are mission critical. I don't know why a game in 2019 would think anybody gets a notepad out for a game these days, and I certainly didn't appreciate it. Same for the (thankfully few) diving missions - Enjoy drawing maps like in the old days! (NOT) Having played it once and basically gotten everything (with some google dang it along the way due to aforementioned DOS-like elements), and upon reflection, the ship combat is incredibly boring. Nothing really challenges you once you have your "screw everything in this direction in particular" beam weapon, and even without it stacking 20 cannons on your ship atomizes everything. 4 shields make you basically invulnerable. Worse... that's not late game. So for quite a few hours you're left kind of bored, and bonking around trying to figure out what arbitrary thing you missed buried in some planet flavor text. I want to like this more, but due to the design it extended what felt like a 5-10 hour game to 25 hours. Not legitimately, not with fun or progressive difficulty, or other elements... but for "Haha warp around directionless until you talk to one of the 5 species to progress", or "Haha you didn't read this ONE planets flavor text to find the missing ship wreck". Kind of annoyed, frankly.
