I want this and Elite: Dangerous to have a baby. Each game has what the other is missing. We've got amazing exploration, awesome ship building, and wonderful RPG elements that keep you coming back. Plus, it just seems practical that you have a crew of more than 2-3 people. The combat and graphics are just enough to get the job done. If this game had come out for SNES/Genesis back in the olden days, I would have been more obsessed with this game than I am now. This game is fun enough to easily lose track of time.
very nice so far. You don't have to follow established path, you can navigate seemlessly anywhere but it takes a long time with my basic drives.
Upgrade crew, upgrade tech, upgrade ship, explore, kill aliens, trade with other aliens, nice story unfolding
Been hooked on Starcom: Unknown Space since I fired it up on the Steam Deck. It runs surprisingly well for a game that’s so open-ended and packed with real-time action. Controls feel natural once you remap a couple things, and performance holds steady even during big fleet battles. What I love most is the sense of discovery—there’s always something new popping up, and the pacing makes it easy to lose hours without noticing. Definitely scratches that “build your ship, explore the stars, solve weird mysteries” itch. Feels awesome to play on the couch or during downtime. Total hidden gem.
