Fans of Starcom: Nexus should know that the overall game mechanics have remained similar (with a lot of improvements), this is not a direct sequel-- it is a brand new story. New players will not need to be familiar with the plot of Starcom: Nexus to jump right in.

I really enjoyed the early and mid-game, but the end-game grew a bit tedious. That's when it became apparent that the map is actually pretty static and not procedurally generated as it seemed at first, and the game stopped rewarding me for exploring and pretty much forced me to get on with the story. Until that point it was very fun, though, and even with that it's still an enjoyable game that I'm glad to have played and can only recommend. Took me pretty much exactly 30 hours to beat.
Glad I picked it up. Differnt, fun, addictive. Hope to see the dev grow and maybe form a team. Look forward to what they can do in the future.
Simple yet complex space exploration sim. Short on resources? Yeah, you always are. So, you have to get creative and design your ship with that in mind. Really unique.
Others have put it more succintly than I ever could - let me keep this short. Starcom Nexus was a mindblowing surprise, an exploration-themed game I always wanted, but never hoped I would actually encounter. And getting a sequel to it is simply a treat.
Both games being inspired by Star Trek is plain to see - the good Star Trek, mind you. You know - exploring strange new worlds, meeting various aliens, investigating anomalies and artifacts, solving the odd mystery here and there... and a good bit of pew pew when diplomacy fails, of course.
I'm already renting Unknown Space on Steam, but this kind of a game I gladly buy a second time to not only support the dev, but also to ensure I won't lose access to it.
P.S. I also miss our dear old friend, the axial ultragun. It just isn't the same without it.
I have throughly enjoyed Starcom: Nexus but I have have to say that I am enjoying this title far more.
This definitely scratches the "Traveler" itch that I have been looking for in modern video games that I have been craving for a while now.
