fantastic explorer builder game

I have spent hours and hours playing this game and have yet to even begin the main quest line. Thats how enjoyable it is just to explore, farm, build forts. Pros: The sound track is so pleasant my family always remarks how much they enjoy listening to it while I play. There is an immersion factor that I didnt expect with such simple graphics but many a time I have stopped farming or exploring to just watch the sun rise. lovely Many types of outfits to find and wear, you can equip them as cosmetics while using stat pcs. Many recipes to cook and farm for, you can have a ranch full of beasts and pets as well. There are quest centers and just so much to do that time flies. Graphics are well done, lots of in game easter eggs and humor. Fast travel, lots of cosmetic items to build with etc. Cons: Opening inventories or objects overlay a screen right in the middle of your monitor obstructing view, there is no way to sticky your placement permanently. Inventory management can be hard when items dont stack, containers have no sort function, no way to adapt inventory in ways that make sense for the user. Changing modes from builder to battle to farmer can be tricky and easy to make an error. I love this game, its so much more intuitive than Terrarria, easier to pick up and play.

2.5 out 5, but definitely not 3.

Lots of features but really, really lacks polish, the game is basically a group of barely connected, underdeveloped features, also unnecessarily grindy. You have fun maybe during one playthrough, thats it! My filling about the game is, milking the cow was the goal here. Play Terraria instead...

Good bones.

Some call it Terraria in space, and others Terraria without a soul. But it's neither. There are elements of 2D Minecraft, as there are in Terraria, but Terraria is more focused on bosses where Starbound is focused on crafting, building, gathering a crew, and exploring. The storyline is not exceptional, but it works. It's also not needed, and you can find mods to just get rid of it. It only serves to give you progression points that open new options. If you've never played, keep the story at least once. Then you can safely pass on it. The building just has had me playing forever. I have almost 1,000 on another platform, but I bought it here, too, so I could mod both copies different ways. I find it to be highly replayable and a lot of fun.

Sandbox game for 100 of hours

Very good game if you like survival, exploration, space, constructions and complexity. The Vanilla game is nice, but if you stick with it for some hours and really like it, you NEED to try out mods! The mod community is super great, provides updates to the game that should have come from the producers.
