STAR WARS™: X-Wing Special Edition

I had this game originally when it was on a CD, years later I wish I could play it again, but I don't have a system to play it on (I still have the CD). I was beyond happy that GOG was releasing this and Tie Fighter (which I never had before) for modern systems. It's totally worth the buy, it's as great as I had remembered it. If you like Star Wars, its worth it. If you like piloting a star fighter, it's worth it. If you like early 90s game renditions of amazing movie scores, its worth it. I tell everyone who even casually likes Star Wars about it, it's totally worth the buy!

This is like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and my birthday all happening on the same day. I can't wait to play this game again, it was a staple of my childhood.

First of all I'd like to say that the 2000 char limit on these reviews are a pain. Sometimes there's just too much to say and some reviews need space so it can be a good read. X-Wing is a great game. I so many ways and on so many levels it's hard to describe in short quick sentences. I just played some missions. Old reflexes come back to me, amazingly after 10 years not playing again this title ; This is definitively a very good GOG games, it works smoothly on windows 8.1 modern systems, i have the same feelings than in the 1990's. Thank you very muck the team of GOG games for such a truly must have game, probably one of the best of Lucasarts ! But beware it is very hard to play, you need to keep your energies well balanced in a fighter, you need to think on a tactical and a strategic way ! GOG games had the very good idea to include the strategy guide, which is a must have for this game (i had already the paper version). So, 100 % hit from GOG games, no, 200 % for a ridiculous price and DRM free ....

I played the hell out of this game on my 386 Tandy. At the time it couldn't handle Tie Fighter(which I admit is slightly superior) so I was stuck as a part of the rebellion. I was only a kid, I didn't know how amazing this game was. I just knew it was fun as hell. Hey shouldn't all games be this good right? Anyways I look back on this game fondly. Can't wait to recreate my wingmen again like Porkins, Wedge, and a couple of my best friends. Don't forget to make copies of all your pilots and restore them if they die. There is nothing worse than starting back over as cadets.
