While this is no Baldur's Gate 2 or Planescape: Torment, this is one of the best RPGs of all time. If you are a Star Wars fan and/or like RPG games, I would HIGHLY recommend this.
It took me four started runs before I really got the patience to make it through the first 5 hours.
Your movement speed is just so slow. You get the force power to temporarily move faster, but after using it out of combat, you awkwardly stand still for half a second. It honestly just feels weird.
The obvious first planet to go to, Kashyyyk, is a very straight forward corridor with lots of backtracking, which I always hated.
A funny thing is how long the alien voice clips take. Might be a one-word-sentence, but that wookie will still take 20 seconds to say it.
The entire time, I felt that a 3-character party always falls short in at least one aspect. Half the time, I almost wished I was playing Dragon Age instead.
At last, its still Star Wars,
I still love the story.
I still love the massive choice you have to make before the final "dungeon".
I still love the ending.
I still love this game.
Do yourself a favor and play it. Play the second game too.
A tip: The maximum level is 20. If you level up too much before getting your powers, your Jedi level is limited. My second run, where I stayed at level 2 until getting my powers, was much more enjoyable.
In general, I prefer the second game, even with all its bugs.
Easily one of the greatest games ever made--and I'm not just talking about Star Wars games, I mean of ALL games. Fantastic everything, don't pass it up. Definitely my favorite.
Hi,
KOTOR 1, is a (TPS)(Third person shooter) and a (RPG). High graphics available. Enter incredible Star Wars locations which must be seen to be believed. Enter the Ebon Hawk spaceship, and choose your destination. Collect companions which of any (2) you can select or deselect to take with you onto worlds. You can choose your weapons, armor, implants and more on your equipment screen as well as your companions items you are able to configure. Configurable keys like, movements, map, quests, skills+ feats, character, inventory, equipment + more. Battle keys are special which you can
configure and/or use the mouse to select on screen the types of attacks and force powers you want to perform. In the options select mouselook to enable mouse rotation. You can deselect auto pause functions. Enable mini map (on/off).
Weapons like, pistols, swords, lightsabers, twin pistols, twin swords, twin lightsabers (one in each hand), rifles, grenade types + much more. Battle - Sith, Dark jedi, Wookies, Droids + more. (Hor + Ver) rotation is fixed and is excellent. Upgrade weapons and armor. Has a top class large character outfit screen allows you to choose the items to slot in. Collect items and buy/sell them on different worlds. A excellent amount of options and in game ones too. Will you choose a continual Light side or Dark side of the force. Choose what to say with a click. Surprising long depth.
KOTOR 1 - is one of the best (TPS)(RPG) your going to find - as is (KOTOR 2).
A real blockbuster with NPC's voice speeches + chatter, sound effects, eerie music.
Freedom of exploration. Amazing fiery graphics - unmatched. A epic awaits you.
A excellent (TPS) + (RPG).

Set well before any of the films in the era of the Old Republic, this is a game that is able to feel familiar yet fresh. It's Star Wars so you know where you are with the setting, yet at the same time being unrelated directly to the films in any real way, they have room to breathe and no restraints or expectations to fulfill.
It's a solid RPG with a pausable realtime type of system that works really well. You can queue up orders for your party and there are enough characters you can recruit on your adventure that you can have several party builds.
Being a pretty old game there are potentially some issues running on modern hardware. I got it running fine on Windows 10 after not having played it since about 2004 or 05 or so and while it ran just fine right away I did have to do a bit of searching about and looking on the games forum on GoG to work out how to get it to run fullscreen and not postage stamp-o-vision, and add in cut content.
Despite the potential to have to do a little bit of legwork, it's worth every penny to be able to revisit this classic though.
