The last of piece of a majestic FPS saga

Although not still on par with the dark forces saga ( they tried though), SW: Jedi knight II is essentially a more redefined version of the first Jedi knight. Returning the focus on Kyle M****F****ng Katarn, while dumbing the character creator of the first chapter, elevates the story in a more enjoyable and coherent manner. Gameplay wise, this second entry doesn't truly detach that much from the first Jedi knight, but it does a better job at constructing levels and enemies that promote switching through the arsenal and not just rely solely on the Lightsaber ( although it still remains the central focus on this game). The true problems that I find in this game, putting aside the graphics that I personally find very boring and unappealing compared to the immersive ones of dark forces ( but this is a personal taste), is the confusing layout of the game. Which is not even that new of a problem, other entries of this saga have something similar, but here is turn up to eleven. Other than that, the shooting in this game (same for the first Jedi Knight) is not as satisfying as the dark forces saga, which is a real shame: half of the time you won't be hitting your target even if it stand in front of you. Plus, sometimes, although very enjoyable, the lightsaber combat is a little messy, without any true skill factor relevant for the outcome of a fight. On top of that, the game has a problem with its pace: the first levels are boring, and could convince someone that the game isn't worth playing. Besides that, it is still star wars: Story is good, so are the soundtracks. For its improvement and for the importance that this game held for the entire Star Wars franchise in the videogame industry ( and the fact that continues on story of one of the most famous badass SW characters), I'm gonna rate it a 4 stars... although I was very much convinced giving it a 3 star rate: it is was not for the franchise, it still would be a good game, but truly not a life changing one.

A hidden gem waiting to be discovered

When I got this game a year back, I thought I knew what I was in for, I saw all the reviews. I thought it was another one of those games were the lightsaber felt like a glowing stick. Boy was I wrong. After I got past the horrible shooter levels, I discovered a game that EA would be covering up not to be played, why? Its one of IF not the best star wars game ever made (besides KOTOR) the lightsaber combat is quick and fluent, the force powers were satisfying and fun to use, the levels were big and well designed, I for the first time ever, felt like a jedi. Lets talk about the pros: lightsaber combat is incredible of course, the graphics though old, hold up very well and won't make you sick, the story though simple is well told and the characters are fleshed out and of course multiplayer is on par with many modern games. But as good as this game is it has some cons: first, the first five levels are not bad, but no good either, the shooting is spongy and the levels, while well designed; are mazes to the modern gamer, the first 3 levels with the lightsabers are HARD, like SNIPER HARD and the last third of the game is not good, but the last 2 levels make up for it. Then bespin: bespin is the reason you should get this game, the levels are large and expansive but not too confusing and you encounter the first force enemy. But please don't let the cons keep you away form this masterpiece. And once you see the end credits with that triumphant music score, you'll be glad you played this incredible game.

Maybe the best jedi game available

This game continues the epic series and improves in every way. The graphics still hold up today and the gameplay is legendary. This is well worth the price for any action or shooter fan, and is mandatory for any Star Wars fan!

Powerful story and loveable characters

Kyle Katarn's story of redemption and revenge is lovely, surrounded by mysterious characters and the gloomy vibe of post-republic, late-empire, early-whatever-is-new republic that hangs in the balance, and gives everyone a sense of purpose. This whole game echoes the earlier games of Star Wars Jedi World, but adds so much atmosphere that it stand well on its own. What can I say? I replayed it endlessly, endlessly, trying to win over Joan, trying to kill Desann. Fighting for my lightsaber.

The Zenith of the Series

All of the Jedi Knight games are awesome, but this one was the Zenith. Its gameplay got even better while not sacrificing the story. If you haven't played this game, do yourself a favor and make time. If you really want to enjoy it to its fullest though, you need to play these 2 games first: -- Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 -- Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast 1 If you don't like older DOS games, you can just get the story from DF2 quickly by putting in the cheat code "JEDIWANNABE" It will make you invulnerable so you can quickly get the story and appreciate the complex maps. Jedi Outcast 1 looks almost as modern as Jedi Outcast 2, so there is no excuse not to play it through completely ;)
