Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
its got some annoying story missions (jedi library anyone?), and very basic ai and combat, but the galactic conquest mode is what really keeps me coming back to it
tip: for the instant action mode play assault on mos eisley for heroes vs villains fun
It's been 20 years and I am still waiting for a better Star Wars experience. They really went all out with what they had available at the time.
I would love to see a remake, and not the remakes that happened. What is Battlefronts without Galactic Conquest!?
This gam allows you to fight the wars fron Episode 2 - 5. It has all of the weapons, vehicles, and armors. The only thing we are missing is a podracing mini-game.
The game is fun on its own, but if you want to hate playing it just try it on Elite difficulty. It's not so challenging, but the game just starts spawning enemies on top of you and you get headshotted before you can react. There's also speculation that modern hardware is giving the AI supernatural abilities.
In all, consider this. I played it 20 years ago, and I'm on my 3rd Galactic conquest in 2 days. Top Tiep game. Would buy again if I didn't get it free.
The game is ideal for fans and non-fans of Star Wars single and multi, many maps, space and ground battles many units, several good modes. Possibility to play four different sides of the conflict. All original characters. Zero microtransactions. Pure adrenaline from the original Star Wars. A few minor bugs with sound and sudden change of image resolution between loads, but nothing that would be drastically disturbing. I recommend it!
Okay I accept the title doesn't really show how much I loved this game back then, but it is the "key" feature.
Battlefront II is a tactical shooter, a Battlefield game build around the Star Wars universe. Do not let this description deceive you, because it is much more! As other games in this genre, your goal is to overrun the opposite team with strategy or brutal power. It is essential to use the environment to your advantage, while trying to prevent the enemy doing the same. There are vehicles you can drive (the well known and legendary machines of Star Wars). Some of them are powerful warmachines, while others are team carriers.
There is a wide variety of classes with different weapons. Every type has its own situation for use, and all of them are required for effective teamplay. However not just the weapons change per classes, but often the whole character with its properities. Some of them are faster, others has more HP, or having special, sometimes completely unique properties (the droideka for example). The stronger classes always require some points before you could use it. When I say "stronger" then I mean "legendary strong" as there are heroes as class either. Heroes are far more powerful than what usually you can use. They are the pinnacle of the strategy you can depend on. Strong enough to protect an assault team, or powerful to break through an entire army. This however works only with real skills behind.
It is a large scale game with bot support even during multiplayer. I haven't seen other games from this genre having this much fun and playability, no matter if you're into singleplayer or multiplayer.
