Like playing a 2 part episode of Voyager

I enjoy this game, I think it's well done, you get to hear the real actors voicing their lines, and the gameplay is fun, even if it's not doing anything special. But to review this game, I need to put my personal bias aside and discuss the game for what it is, a well done FPS that doesn't do anything special. Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force is a competently created FPS game that is more interested in making you feel like you're a part of voyager than being an intense or creative game. This isn't a bad thing, but you'll get more out of this game if you're a fan of Voyager than if you're a fan of FPS games. The guns and gunplay are competent, there are no glaring issues with any piece of the gameplay, and it's fun to play, but it's not very challenging and it lacks true diversity in its environments and enemies. While in many missions you will have an array of companions, enemies more or less ignore them and are almost unharmed by them. This becomes extremely noticeable in close quarters because the enemies will beeline it to you and only attack you (unless scripted otherwise). The levels are simple, but easy to navigate, and there are secrets to find, but you won't be getting any DOOM or Half-Life style levels that require intricate platforming or puzzle solving.

Very fun

I love the game, I even use to have the demo disk, but you have to go into the folder for the holomatch.exe, and for some reason you can not alt tab. Still a great game

Great Gameplay and Variety

While Star Trek and first person shooter seem like an odd mix, this game pulls it off quite well, keeping the general feel of Starfleet trying to be upstanding, moral and diplomatic while still plausibly putting you in situations where vaporizing dozens of foes is the only reasonable solution. Your appreciation of the game will probably be a lot higher if you're a Star Trek fan, but you don't necessarily need to be into Voyager specifically- I've only seen a couple episodes of that show and it didn't hurt my experience at all. The graphics are dated but not jarringly so, looking mostly very good with the exception of characters' faces, which are a bit blocky and change expression by instantly shifting textures. The variety of weapons is a lot of fun, and ammo is plentiful enough that you can use even the heavy weapons on a regular basis. The plot is simple but the game tries its best to feel like an actual episode of the show, complete with opening credits and authentic voice acting from all of the main cast (even Jeri Ryan as 7 of 9, as the expansion pack is included). Each level is very distinct and has a unique layout, giving the game a lot of variety, with the highlight being the scavenger base that's a bunch of starships welded together and has four distinct sections for four different factions sharing a tenuous alliance. The attention to detail in this section is amazing and it's a blast to play. The final level, unfortunately, is rather drab and repetitive, and feels rushed. The base also features an attempt at stealth mechanics, but it's a bit wonky and difficult to do when crouching requires constantly holding down a key- and even if you succeed, at a certain point the enemies are magically aware of you now and the stealth objective goes away. The expansion pack lets you explore Voyager searching for hidden items, reading lore text and playing on the holodeck, and is a fun diversion for a couple hours. Not perfect, but a very solid, recommended game!

My favorite game

Elite Force was my favorite game of all time! A great FPS by Raven software, immersive single player, voiced by the actors. I love it, so glad that it is finally on GOG for others to enjoy!

Star Trek game that respects the IP

Well, a First Person Shooter and Star Trek seems like unlikely bed fellows; it actually worked. I still have my special Elite Force pin from the original game and I'm so glad it has finally made it to GOG. A fun game still today; yeah the graphics aren't as fancy s today, but boy does this game still have story - made you care about the characters, and was a decent shooter to boot. A must buy if you are a Star Trek fan; worth a whirl even if you aren't a Star Trek fan. Runs just fine on my Windows 10 setup. Live long and prosper! ...or as Data once said.. Lock and load!
