Great Fun
Great program. I play it over and over. Give it a couple of months rest, then play it again. Wish there were more like it.

a reboot that retains stye of original
I have greatly enjoyed playing this game and completing the main plot line as well as parts 1 and 2 of the season pass release. the aliens are funny and engaging, and there are some great plots in the quest lines. I cant wait for part 3 of the season pass to be released. I would like to see some longer plots that take more time to complete, but other than that I dont see any downsides. All in all, a very enjoyable game to play.

Buggy
Last patch crashes game at random points. Dev Console (aka the "~" Tilde key annoyance) was mapped to a key that was previous used for Cancel by many player. There's no documentation on why the Devs did this, but it's annoying af. Now Tilde will cover up your current star system and the "press escape and tilde again" to get out often fails. Very poor implementatoin of a Dev Console and even worse lack of documentation / ability to completely disable in-game.

Classic Star Control fun reimagined
I've thoroughly enjoyed playing Star Control Origins and it definitely scratches my Star Control itch. There are/were balance issues at the beginning, but I've still very much enjoyed the combat. The 1.01 patch made mining planets much easier since you can see the value of the planet right from orbit. May get a bit tedious at times exploring every planet, but that is the same as it always was. If you are looking for some new Star Control action and enjoyed Star Control 2 then you will most like love this game as well.

Star Control lives again!
First off, I'd like to mention that I signed up for this game 2 years ago, so I'm a lifetime founder. This game feels like SC2. Tywom = Spathi, for example. Not too courageous, slimy, ship is decent once you learn how to use it properly, etc. Also, you have the "grind" of having to look for resources. My computer is not as performant as I'd like it to be (it's now 7 years old) so it is sometimes choppy when exploring planets. But the size of the planets is nice enough that I can feel like I'm exploring a real planet. But the grind was also part of SC2. It's what actually drove you to explore further and further, as you looked for more and more resources. Combat... I am not necessarily a fan of the "ring of death" thing, but getting used to it. Otherwise, combat feels fine. There are some clearly OP ships and others that are basically cannon fodder. But this reflects the relative power/technological prowess of the various alien races. Storyline... I'm not far enough in to really judge. Now, as to the legal things. Atari held the rights to Star Control. Atari died. StarDock bought the rights. StarDock built the game. At first, I was disappointed that Paul and Fred were not in on the project. But you know what? They're so busy printing money with Skylander that they didn't bother creating a space opera game for a quarter of a century. Even if it wouldn't have had the Star Control name, people would have flocked to a space opera game by Paul and Fred. But since they abandoned it and kept it, possibly, for their retirement years, somebody else came along and decided to not let it go to waste. People are now buying this game. So please stop with the "they stole it" line. They bought the name and the rights to the old games. They don't have the IP to the aliens of SC2, which is why they had to entirely reboot the series, why they couldn't include the Arilou, Chenjesu, Precursors or any other race. Play the game. Have fun.
