it works in windows 8.1
though the gtx 770m might be a bit weak. as for the gamepay: it looks interesting. looks very age of wonders like. if it got multipleyer however, it would get an additional 2 stars from me.

Unfinished, unbalanced, no depth
I played this on hard as balanced was a joke. However, after you reach tower level 50, the enemies spams you with stacks that are always 1 level above your own. Even having all your units and 2 healers on lvl 15 does not help here, my human units were always fighting the undead circle mages on Goldfields but at some point you cannot go anywhere because otherwise they will destroy your tower. This is usually when they throw a Tier 4 unit at you with 1-2 more stack numbers and mainly tier 3 units. Until then I managed to not lose a single unit, but suddenly it became impossible. This game lacks so many things... unit abilities are acquired randomly, they are completely unbalanced (t3 paladins or griffons are no match for a t3 haunted armor, aome units can use mind control on other units), units dont even change their appearance when they level up (at least at max level there should be some sort of distinction) and AI just gets infinite free units to smash at you on hard difficulty. Spells are mostly useless in fights (you cannot use them in the fights, just on the world map). Tower upgrading is just for getting money/mana/research points, you have to find good units to buy on the world map. I regret buying this game in a sale. An absolute failure to me as a fan of HoMM.

Turn based is boring
Their previous titles were better in term of strategy. The problem comes from turn based mechanics, that lower the strategic level required, which is a shame in a strategy game. Also, I'd rather play civilization than a pale copy of it.

Turn-based!?!? Why!?!??
Take this review with a grain of salt: I downloaded it and played for all of five minutes when I discovered it was turn-based play and combat. I saw this game was coming out by a GoG email a few days ago and went "Cool, I really enjoyed Spellforce III and all the expansions for it!" and I was looking forward to a new saga in the story. I didn't even bother reading anything about it because who would expect such a violent shift in playstyle? Why on earth would the developers take the game from the faster paced, high intensity real-time strategy to this plodding "Oh, you only get three actions in combat, and this unit is slower than that unit so you'll have to wait another turn to move close enough" bullshit? I see another review calls it more similar to Age of Wonders 3 than Spellforce 3 and that is very accurate from what I have seen of it now in the bit of gameplay and the stuff I have looked at online. So for fans of the recent Spellforce games... This may not to be for you.
