Enter the world of SOMA and face horrors buried deep beneath the ocean waves. Delve through locked terminals and secret documents to uncover the truth behind the chaos. Seek out the last remaining inhabitants and take part in the events that will ultimately shape the fate of the station. But be careful, danger lurks in every corner: corrupted humans, twisted creatures, insane robots, and even an inscrutable omnipresent A.I.
You will need to figure out how to deal with each one of them. Just remember there’s no fighting back, either you outsmart your enemies or you get ready to run.
From the creators of the cult classic Amnesia the Dark Descent.
Spine-chilling horror that raises questions about identity, consciousness and existence itself.
Mixes stealth, exploration and puzzles into a coherent narrative experience.

what I really love about this game is the controls. they are very smooth, gets me super excited for Amnesia Rebirth. What I don't kinda like is that the game is a bit boring to me, Frictional does not use combat since Penumbra Overture, which is a shame IMO.
This was a memorable experience.
The game starts out in a room and you can't leave until you take your medicine that you misplaced. You have to think logically as if this was real life. Almost everything in the room can be manipulated. The game drops you in and doesn't give you a long tutorial or lead you by the hand.
It's a streamlined experience all about the atmosphere. Thick rich, deep atmosphere! Incredible sound, foreboding music. Tension. Forget about a backpack full of inventory, it's streamlined. You push forward and pass each section mostly carrying just one item or using whats in the immediate area.
Having just completed it, I have the following to say about the monsters, the puzzles and the pacing.
Yes I've played amnesia (loved it). This is slightly different. The monsters in here are just to mess with you and scare you, they get progressively scarier as you go deeper in the game and the areas get darker and harder to navigate. There was one genius part where you have to reboot a server that has a timer clock, you sneak past a monster and push the button but then you can’t just hit the button and run, you have to hit a manual confirmation switch while the monster comes back to chase you. This was nerve wracking and intense (a few good sections like this).
Though there was ONE monster scene that I must admit was not intuitive. You literally have to run away from the monster to escape.
Puzzles are not bad, I wasn’t stumped at all once I got the gist of how the game wants me to play.
This is a tense horror game, very interactive and you will make heavy choices before you reach the end. This is not cheesy silent hill stuff, this is questions of ethics, the dark side of human nature.
Highly recommended – Don’t worry about multiple endings, it all ends up in the same place, don’t worry about just running past a monster to get to the next section. I loved it and will remember this game for a long time.
Played this quite a while ago. Got it when it was free on GOG.
An absolute must play, a fascinating story on "what it means to be human" (stole that from a YT video) and existential crisis of the human condition.
It has, however a flaw - the enemies are just dumb. They are non-reactive and easy to dodge.
The story is truly top notch. Well worth the full price, even this long after the release date. I might rebuy it on Steam just to give it one more run.
excellent game. like another review, walking around spooky places is not my favorite type of game but this one has a very creative storyline. it makes you think about life and everything else. I recommend it!
