Technically Broken
Thanks to me mate, I can play this game. Well, for a while that is. Even when using SoFPlus Patch, the game is still broken, even when you rename the executable to mohaa.exe you will still crashed. The patch is currently broken because of Windows Update. So even if you did everything right and the game still runs in the Taskbar, but doesn't boot. It means the game is broken along with patch. Activision wants you to move into Call of Duty and forget about this title because of f@#k all. So yeah, the game is broken, even with fan patch that is discontinued.

Excellent gunplay and nothing else.
Been on a boomer shooter kick the last several months and eventually got to playing this one. This game however was the only one I hated to play compared to other shooters from the 90s and early 2000s. Credit where it's due, the guns in this game feel amazing. The gibbing technology is really advanced for the time and never has a shotgun, a Desert Eagle, or a MG felt so powerful. The first few levels are solid and enjoyable because of the gunplay, and since the monotony of the level design and the rest of the game hadn't really sunken in yet, so it was pretty good for a short time. Beyond that, I finally started to notice how extremely linear, uninteresting, monotonous, and repetitive the levels are. The level design is just running down a track, shooting and killing several hundred very uninteresting and dumb enemies once they pop up in front of you for 7 hours straight, fight the last bulletsponge boss with no real feedback given to tell if you're actually killing him or not until he finally falls over, and then you're done. The extremely good gunplay just isn't enough to make the full run-time fun for me. Seems like well over half of people do like this game though, so if its on sale, try it out since it since the game gets really cheap on sale.

Doesn't work on modern Windows
GOG really shouldn't be selling games that don't work anymore. I tried to troubleshoot this and found dozens of other users who have run into the same problem.

Shoot the kneecaps!
Ahhh Soldier of Fortune. I do remember it fondly. It was quite the pricey game when it came out, I remember it retailing for about 120 then-Guilders while most games were 99 tops. And yes, the engine was great, the first level in which you get to the subway and start shooting and see those enemies respond to where you shot them is fantastic. But then, mediocrity kicks in, and every level is more of the same. The surroundings change, I remember going to the desert at some point, but the gameplay remains the exact same (except that the enemies just take a hell of a lot longer to kill with no apparent reason other than the level) and well, even shooting kneecaps gets stale after a while. Then the biggest anticlimax of all, you don't even get to kill the endboss. The ENDING CINEMATIC kills the endboss. Online play was a blast though, that's definitely worth mentioning. Awesome deathmatch weapons.
