Description

Objective:
The stakes are even higher in this heart-pounding sequel to the FPS hit! An insidious threat has arisen in the form of a bio-terrorist organization and their two-pronged Gemini Virus. Your mission: Race around the globe to neutralize the terrorists before the plague is unleashed on humanity.

Parameters:
Reprise the role of John Mullins: patriot, weapons specialist, anti-terrorist mercenary and "Military Consultant." Trust no one - only your ability to take out operatives with your brains, brawn and firepower. Failure is not an option.

GHOUL II Technology:
At the time of the original release, the addition of GHOUL II to the Quake III: Arena™ engine allowed for more animations, ore damage and more pulse-pounding action than ever before - with 36 damage zones and 16 dismemberment zones! Additional features included per-pixel hit detection, fully skeletal, soft-skinned models and a facial animation system for even more realistic characters.

Really Bad, holy cow

I played this game and its multiplayer a long time ago. I can't believe I don't remember how bad it was. The game feels like it doesn't want you to play it. Constantly taking away the core-gameplay with stealth levels, visiting home-base, and on-rails turret sections. Different minor design decisions could have made this game good. But it's really really bad. -The guns look like they should be cool but they suck. Recoil, spread, and just using them in general is awful. -Enemies spawn behind you, or even in front of you if you outrun the level triggers. -Easy to get soft-locked. In one case, C4 I planted never did anything. In another, I could kill a guy behind glass that was supposed to break a window down for me to continue. Had to restart the level. -Stupid story, honestly doesn't even affect my rating. -Enemies will shoot you through some objects. -Instant-kill enemies are placed to stop you from going to SOME places. -Some keypads open doors, some don't -At one point you have to crawl, even though it NEVER came up before that you can crawl. -Not all of the hits on enemies even have a hit-effect, no blood or anything. -Helicoptor fights suck Just play it on lowest difficulty, or with cheats. Not worth the time. We were lucky the Jedi Knight games were good.

Great MP

The single player campaign was OK, but where this game really shined was MP. There are still servers running today. I played countless hours online playing this, and it was the only game I loved enough to join a clan and compete in TWL. The RNG maps added a new, refreshing dimension to every match. I really like the slower pace than the original SOF. It was perfect.

Not as good as SoF1 but still quite good

Not a bad game overall, story and enviroments are kind of boring and repetitive but the shooting is enjoyable, gore is very very good to this day, once you get used to its old charm you will love it. +point for the Random Level Generator, there is infinite fun to be had with the inclusion of that.

what happen to this game...

First one made you feel like rambo/robocop with awasome fast action, here we got bad level design (I thought monkeys where desinging that vents section also most of the levels are just empty nothing), hitscan enemies (they can shoot you thru solid objects because as soon as they detect you they lock on you and their weapons can clip thru it), weapons design (im suprised at this point why weapons are not falling from player hand when shoot), garbage stealth mechanic (if you hit enemies and they not die instantly it will trigger alarm, yes no button pressing just magic alarm from nowhere)

Kudos to GOG, as for the game...

I always wanted to play this game for its known characteristic of being incredibly violent, of course, nowadays with stuff like Mortal Kombat this game is tame by comparison, there's some mods that even help in this aspect by adding more gore and blood, but generally I thought the base game was fine with this, it's uncensored here so it's all good. The game itself is really the problem, the story is not that good, it has its moment but it's fairly generic, the real issue is the gameplay though, as if it wasn't enough for the story to repeat the mission briefing in five different forms two of them being separate cutscenes, the gameplay of this game well... it hasn't aged well at all. The balancing of difficulty is a mess, even on the easiest settings you get killed quick, and like other users have mentioned the game uses hitscan enemies which is atrocious, there's also some forced stealth sections at the beginning of the game that instantly fail you if you get spotted, having to restart from your latest save/quicksave. The game also limits your saves depending on the difficulty that you play, even Normal gives you only five of them; thankfully you can customize this, because the game does have customizable difficulty options, but it doesn't have that many settings. You can choose between the difficulty balance of the enemies between the presets of difficulty already available, then how many saves, then how much equipment you can carry in missions, and whether you want innacuracy in your guns, other than that, there are no other options to change the difficulty of the game. You could use cheats, but what's the point of that? The whole balance gets lost, and you want to be engaged by the game but not frustrated, right? Same as you don't want the game to just go through the motions. Overall, I just thought it was a pretty dissappointing experience.
