Soldier Of Fortune 2: Double Helix
The original Soldier Of Fortune is one of my favorite games. It's next to flawless. This sequel is a shell of that one. The world looks so empty and bland. Most ememies and NPCs just stand around, even when you're close to and bump into them. Stealth is a joke. You can go around throwing knives around, breaking boxes in front of enemies and still not get a reaction. The only way they react is if they're directly facing you or if you shoot a weapon. I also encountered a slew of glitches, one of which included an enemy soldier falling from the sky and triggering an alarm at a checkpoint, ending my game. I got caught in this loop for about 20 minutes, trying to figure out my way out of it. Finally, I just started the level all over again and got through it this time without it raining men... hallelujah! So, you're probably wondering why then am I giving this game a 5 star rating? Well, I love games like this that are hilariously bad. It's one of those, "it's so bad, it's good" kind of games. I'm having a lot of mindless fun with it, and that's all gaming is about... having fun. Games don't have to be Earth-shattering; they just have to be enteraining, and this one delivers on that. It's the kind of a game that you can pick up and play to pass the time. If you can get it for a dollar or two, I think it's worth it.
