Slime Rancher

The game has got a lot going for it. It's cute, it's fun and the soundtrack is nice the sound effects are really fun and satisfying. It's very polished for what's there. After about 10 hours of exploration I still haven't unlocked all the areas or crafted all the items (or seen all the slimes that can be caught). The cool thing is that you find out what kind of slimes there are by exploring and experimenting. You can create new slimes by letting a slime eat a plort (the crystals they produce from eating fruits veggies and meat) from another type of slime. Managing the new slimes becomes part of the fun of managing your farm. Some slimes will jump higher after "evolving" so you need to manage the pens to held them in by making higher walls or roofs. There's a little story hidden in the little data pads around the world too. I liked everything about this game, I really like exploring and completing tasks/collecting things and this game scratches that itch especially on sale (I think I got my copy free on xbox games with gold) I love playing it and my kids (4 and 6) LOVE watching it It could be longer.

slime rancher looks and controls like a first person shooter, but isn't one. It's actually a lot closer to a farming game, but instead of animals, you're herding squishy, adorable, blightly colored slimes, feeding them and keeping them in their respective living areas. you can create hybrid ones that are less picky eaters and produce more valuables, but hybridize them too much and they will turn into abominations and you will lose everything in your quest for profits. On top of that, you will also explore the world outside your ranch in search of even more slimes and foods, unlocking shortcuts and abilities as you go, metroidvania style. You will also get to interact with a colorful cast of inhabitants, each giving you unique rewards as you get closer to them (Bob's my favorite, get them a few chickens on my behalf) Apparently the GOG version is missing 2 dlcs with some skins for your slimes and your gear and the VR standalone experience respecitvely, as well as a paid skins dlc. if this bothers you, consider getting it on steam, otherwise, you might as well enjoy it DRM free.

I was hopping that it will be a sand box game. But other than that, game did not disappoint me. The size of the map maybe not that grand but there are things to do in order to keep your farm running. Its routine at time but design and colors make you feel relaxed and help keep playing. Characters are cute and memorable. And not cute to the point being weird or repulsive. Its nice mechanic where you have to look at the faces of slimes in order to know if you need to feed them. Maybe if this game will do well enough, developers will make sand box sequel. Thou I think 20 bucks for this game is a tiny bit too much. The sale price is exact amount of money i ready to pay for it. If you tired of endless alien shootings or saving the world, and you fan of Stardew Valley there is a chance you will like this game.

TL;DR: A very fun casual farming game that involves cute slimes and allows for metrovania style of exploration. Recommended to anyone who wants something cheerful and engaging that doesn't make you fall a sleep and doesn't go too in-depth farming wise. STORY: Your name is John Slime. You were sent by the Z corporation in order to extract slime for stock market manipulation in the galactic trade federation; failure is not an option. You can tell I didn't read the story and neither should you (its very uninteresting), go farm those slimes! GAMEPLAY: The game is simple: farm slime plorbs (I presume its their poop) and sell it for money in the store. The more areas you discover and unlock, the more slime variations you can find and add to your collection, which means more money! Let us not forget all the various upgrades you can get that range from personal ones (jetpack, stamina, health, etc) to the farm specific ones that further allow for containment of more slimes or food variants for the slimes and many more upgrades that are required to unlock further content- which too requires money by slime farming and helps advance your farming experience. The repetition is very simple and not too complex, but I ensure you that it will keep you drawn in. THE GOOD: The game is simple and easy to pick up from whenever you left, not requiring much effort to remember complex strategies. It seems that this game was designed for adults and kids a like, being extremely casual and not requiring much effort other than selling slime plorbs to unlock more items (unlike Stardew Valley that has much more depth to farming and other unlockable items). THE BAD: There are missing DLCs from other storefronts that are mainly cosmetic in nature. The rest of the content is on par with other storefronts including the game version so it's OK overall. CONCLUSION: Fun, slimy and cute. It gets 5/5 for being that and allowing me to collect slime poop. Jokes aside, its a perfect casual farming game

Relaxing, Cute, and quite full of content. This has to have been one of the most relaxing games I've played in quite some time. There was never a time where it made me mad, bugged out completely, or made me want to stop playing. There is a light story to guide you along, with many goals for you to work to in order to improve your efficiency, and fun.
