FIGHT THE PAST TO SAVE THE FUTURE. STOP THE SINGULARITY.
Learn the truth behind a massive cover-up of the catastrophic SINGULARITY, an event that fractured time and threatens the world as we know it. Armed with powerful, advanced weaponry and the experimental Time Manipulation Device, fight enemies from the past, the present, and abominations caught somewhere in between.
TIME IS YOUR WEAPON
- Use the TMD – Time Manipulation Device – to change the age of objects and enemies and bend time to your will.
- Age enemies to dust in seconds, manipulate objects outside the laws of gravity, and degrade objects to a withered state or renew them to their pristine form.
- Unlock upgrades to harness the TMD’s full power and expand your full arsenal of advanced weaponry.
EPIC SCI-FI ACTION THRILLER
- Heart-pounding, first person combat action that immerses you in a world where the past and present collide.
- Travel seamlessly between two eras – 1950s Russia and modern day – each rendered with stunning lighting, physics, and effects using the Unreal 3 Engine.
UNRAVEL THE CONSPIRACY
- Traverse the blur between the past and future in order to stop the mysterious SINGULARITY that threatens the world.

I bought it on steam, and now on GOG, just to support it.
I really don't know why I enjoy it so much! It could be because it's original in the way it plays and in the story it tells that doesn't feel forced like some other FPS's.
In short it's fun, and since it's not a long game, you can finish it as fast as you want.
And everyone who has played it has already said: THERE NEEDS TO BE A SEQUEL.
According to Wikipedia this sold less the 400,000 copies. How this amazing game went under the radar for most people is beyond me.
I don't usually like shooters, but having an interesting gimmick as a core gameplay element consistently captures my attention. You can get really creative with how you use the tools provided to you. If you're feeling fancy, you can win a fight without using a single bullet. While the shooting itself isn't hyper-realistic and often feels like your gun fires lasers (especially relevant for the minigun) I do believe that only encourages using alternative methods of engagement. Although by the end of the game you essentially feel like a god moving through everything.
Absolutely loved the setting and visual design of the game. I'm Russian, and I can attest that Soviet-era feeling is captured (mostly) well (as opposed to writing everything in KЯЭMLIN font and calling it a day). The story is a bit lacking though. For the majority of the game you get only the bits related to where you need to go to shoot the bad guys. For some reason the game REALLY underestimates your ability to connect events. I mean that something really plain and obvious gets brought up in the end as if it's some sort of unexpected revalation. The ending itself is really satisfying though.
Now about the stuff that I didn't like. Some functions served different purposes but could only be assigned a single key, so you'd have to hold it to do one thing while the other only came up in certain context. I assume this was done to make the game gamepad-viable, but on keyboard that was very frustrating. Especially since one very commonly used key would charge a special move if you happened to hold it for too long. Not only that move used energy, but it also delayed whatever you wanted to do, making some battles much harder. One bosses attacks were very confusing as to where they would hit, which is a shame because the fight looked amazing otherwise.
Great game overall.
Half Life 2 + Bioshock + Dead Space + Time Travel = Singularity
I had never heard of this game until a couple days ago. I picked it out of a huge backlog.
It's great, VERY VERY good. I'd put it in my top 10.
Sci-fi story and atmosphere is better than almost any new game I've played in the last 5 years. Grim and immersive with good rag doll and death animations.
Guns are diverse and all have a very specific purpose, each one feels like a very different tool for a different job... environment interactions are really cool... Art style is cool... very immersive.
But most of all, it respects the players time: there are a lot of quality of life improvements and intuitive touches that feel natural and
NOTE: I played on Normal. It was too easy. I am an average FPS player with mid skill and I found the „normal“ difficulty pretty easy... I almost never died unless I was experimenting with some new gameplay mechanic.
It closes the door behind you a bit too quickly and its easy to sometimes go ahead and miss an upgrade as the doors seal off the area behind you.
It borrows a lot of stuff from other games, but its all good stuff and the sum of the whole is greater than the parts.
And the ending is pretty cool.
Suddenly, Atomic Heart seems even less original.
