SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

Despite successive iterations and newfangled doodads, including the now upcoming new "Simcity" by EA, SimCity 2000, or SC2K to its fans, is hands down, the best SimCity version in existence. Blending the perfect match of detail from issues such as pollution, crime, education levels etc. without bogging down players with too many details, it was one of the first games I cut my teeth on on the PC when I was still a child. I didn't even know what I was doing, or why I wasn't making any money. But that didn't matter back then. And when I finally returned to it years later with a better grasp of its mechanics, the first city that began to flourish would be remembered forever by me. I still have the save file for it on my portable backup drives, alongside an age-old CD copy of the full game in its box (Complete with the goofy UFO cover) Other SimCities might look prettier. They may even one day, be able to do "ZZTT!" power sounds better. But they're not SC2K. And they're not the best.

I had never played this game before, but I love to play old classics, and boy am I glad I did not miss out on this one. Great music,depth,and my addiction to it keeps me coming back to this game.

I've loonnngged for this for so long!! Especially for Mac! Good to see GOG bringing it back. Just a question: After first time starting up the game, I can't select modding tools anymore. How can I gain access to that again?

I wasen't big into video games until my childhood friend showed me this, and Red Alert. i was hooked, he had the Nintendo version and later i got the game and i just liked to build. with Red Alert, i was hooked when i beat him in multiplayer, and unkowingest to me i shall be addicted to comptative play. but this game gave me hours of play, i just wish the newer version werent so card heavy.

This one is still better than the latest simcity, because you didn't need a internet-connection to play this :-D
