SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

This game is a fine example of one which holds up to the test of time. Granted, the controls do feel dated, and take a little time to get used to, but, once you're accustomed to them this game is still as addictive as any game out there. Remember, this game is 20 years old, and the controls reflect that, but, they work very well. After 30 minutes of play you'll almost not notice that fact. Don't be afraid to search for a guide, I found a good one from 2000ish which had me building a mega city in no time. I lost the next 8 or 10 hours *drooling over my keyboard. If you remember getting this as a freebie with windows, or simply want to see what all the fuse is about, I'd suggest giving SimCIty 2000 a try. *make sure to let the dogs out before you start playing.

I only sold my original floppy disc version about a year ago, which hadn't run on any Mac I owed for about 15 years! I took a punt and gambled my £1.19 and I can't believe this actually runs on MacOS Catalina! and with a reasonable screen size! I was expecting atiny pciture that I could barely see but it's as good as I remember. Awesome!

This is the only simulator I've ever enjoyed playing. I've sat for days/weeks working on building sprawling metropolises and loved every minute of it. This game is a must buy as soon as my budget allows it.

While the audio and graphics are rather dated, SimCity 2000 is addictive as it was decades ago.

Despite its flaws, it's still easily the best of the series, and still a game I enjoyed playing until I couldn't get it running on the new OSes. Everything that made the original good is multiplied here, without adding too much crap from the later games. It's manageable. It's digestible. It's uncomplicated. And it's got a lot going for it. I haven't played the newest one (the one where they left off the number), and though Sim City 4 came close to recreating the magic, even it and all its expansions didn't beat this one.
